Al, Tipper and Sarah Gore.

ET just learned that former Vice President AL GORE and wife TIPPER were proud parents today as their 28-year-old daughter SARAH was married in Beverly Hills, CA. The groom is businessman BILL LEE, 36.

Most recently, Al Gore spearheaded "Live Earth," a day-long series of concerts to inspire a mass movement to combat global warming, featuring MADONNA, the POLICE, BON JOVI, KANYE WEST, BEASTIE BOYS and ALICIA KEYS.

AGIML, I don't get your remark about the timing. Please explain.

Maybe, Gore is clearing his schedule for an important announcement later this summer. I can't see why his daughter's marriage was bad timing.

I was just hoping for some different kind of news from the GORE family after Live Earth. <_<

But Gore has nothing to gain from a July announcement. September is the time to jump in. Nobody pays attention to politics during the summer. It's a better strategy to wait until people are sick of the Clinton/Obama/Edwards battle . . . and add to that a successful book tour and a possible Nobel Prize . . . the best time for Gore to enter the race is in the fall.

This sounds like good news to me. Not the good news yet that we've been waiting for, but still good.

Congratulations to Al and Tipper on their daughters wedding and best wishes to Sarah and Bill

Harold Ford Jr., the featured speaker, is just another Lieberman type repubican/democrat, who offers Al Gore nothing for his supporters.

He is on the wrong side of every issue Al Gore seems now to be for, so this is just a charity style dinner.

I do not think this has anything whatsoever to do with Politics, far as I know-this is a yearly event.

Isn't the Loews-Vanderbuilt in the same complex as his office btw.? They share the same parking lot.

Last thing I personally want is for Gore to start re-associating himself with the wrong part of the party...(actually wish Gore would run independent with Bloomberg and screw the party that screwed him in 2000,2001,2002,2003,2004,2005,2006,2007,etc.)

I don't know anything so bad about Harold Ford Jr. :spikey:

Harold Ford came within a hair of defeating a Republican to win a US Senate seat from Tennessee. He probably would have won if it were not for racist advertising being thrown against him at the last minute. You remember the blonde whispering into her phone 'Harold, call me'?

Harold Ford Jr. is the featured speaker at the Gore family dinner because that's who Al Gore wanted to be the featured speaker. Lieberman has not received any recent invitations!!

I want Al Gore supporters to listen and be more tolerant. For me, and some of you, that means being tolerant of people who are less liberal than I am. I would love to see a landslide in 2008 where Gore Democrats are joined by moderates, independents, and even Libertarians and Ron Paul style Republicans. I can dream can't I? :construction:

Bob Corker, GOP, was elected in Tennesee over Harold Ford, Jr. Corker is a weak senator with no experience of any kind that I can tell. I write him my concerns and he gives me the GOP spin, and he lets me know that he will vote with his party. Harold spoke at Gore's nomination convention, and they are good friends. I feel that he is giving him a chance to come before the people at a different setting.

My Granddaughter and I are going to the Third Annual Gore Family Dinner. I'll give you a report after the dinner.

TNblue - July 17, 2007 02:53 AM (GMT)

Can anyone go, Patsy? Is $100.00/person the minimum?

Patsy - July 17, 2007 02:55 AM (GMT)
Yes, Go to Davidson County Democratic Party.com, and all the information is on line. I have been going for three years, and I get an invitation.

Dont know about you, but I didn't see Ford backing Ned Lamont or separating himself from that side of the party.

I see Ford speaking at a dinner that has nothing to do with politics, and Ford is important in local politics, but I do not wish to see him rise to national level, as he is way too conservative for me.(IMHO)

IMHO,What is the point of Al Gore coming back, if he is just going to sell out those on the left?
(and I did not vote for Al Gore in 1988, nor would I have in 1992,(voted for Rev.Jesse Jackson and Jerry Brown) although by far Al Gore would have been 1000000 times better than Bill Clinton at the top of the ticket).

But he was far to much to the right back then, and IMHO (of course you are entitled to your own Wayne), Al Gore needs to go left, otherwise, why not just pick Hillary or Obama to start off with, if you want the same old status quo.
(it goes without saying I am not a Clinton/McAuliffe fan and never have been).
I wanted Al Gore who separated himself from Clinton in 2000, and 2004, and today is the #1 person out there for liberals and alot of the (but not all) liberal issues.

Rev.Wally-sorry Ron Paul is not good on the "wedge" issues, and I think he is too authoritarian for me...plus he hasn't signed onto Kucinich's impeach Cheney bill, and cannot figure out why if he believes what he does, he don't sign it (except for Political gain) and Ron Paul has neither the finances nor ability to actually win that a Bloomberg would have(and Mike has the environmental issue from day one)...

Patsy - July 17, 2007 03:49 PM (GMT)
I feel that Harold Ford, Jr is speaking at the dinner because of his strong showing against Corker. Tennessee is a GOP state now, and it is hard to get a democrat elected statewide. The only reason that we have a democratic governor, is that the state was in such a bad shape following eight years of a GOP governor. Our present governor has saved this state from financial ruin. We are thanking Harold for his hard work in representing Tennnessee in Congress.

Wayne in WA State - July 17, 2007 04:02 PM (GMT)
ReElectGore :good: Let me try and explain a bit where I am coming from.

I consider myself proud to be a Liberal Democrat. But I don't want to separate Gore supporters from "the other side" of the party. I want unity against Republicans.

When I think about Harold Ford Jr. I think about Tennessee state politics, not national politics. If Ford gets in the Senate then after a couple terms he might be a national figure but right now it's about Tennessee. I wouldn't expect Ford to have anything to do with Connecticut.

IMHO I am very worried about the best being the enemy of the good. If liberal Democrats like me can't work with moderate Democrats (or frankly anybody to the left of Joe Lieberman) then I think we will lose and it will be our own fault. If we start talking independent or 3rd Party then we might as well vote Republican because that's who is going to be running our country.

Currently George W. Bush and Dick Cheney are in the White House. That's the status quo. Al Gore is my President. But if Gore does not run then yes I will take Edwards or Obama or even Hillary Clinton over a Republican. In a heartbeat.
