Gore on Libby, son's arrest, and '08 election - with video
"I don't have any plans or any intentions of being a candidate again," Gore, 59, told Vieira on Thursday. "The main reason is I am involved in a different kind of campaign to try to raise awareness to what I believe is truly the most serious crisis our civilization has ever faced."Undeterred, Vieira tried again to get Gore to concede that he has the name recognition, credentials and passion to make reversing global warming "job one" as president, but Gore wasn't biting. "I've kind of fallen out of love with politics," he finally admitted. In 2000, Gore received more popular votes than George W. Bush, but lost the presidential race in the Electoral College and the courts.

Gore on Gore, Libby and 2008
Maybe Mr. Gore's not in love with politics right now, but you can't say that for some ardent Gore supporters who would love for him to get into the race.

What's The Point Of Live Earth? Facing Criticism, Al Gore Says Concerts Are Just The Beginning
Gore says he's heard the criticism of Live 8 and that he does have a plan. "This could not have happened without [Live 8's] pioneering efforts, and we listened carefully to their advice to make this not just a one-day event," Gore said. "[This is] the beginning of a multi year campaign, and that is exactly how this has been designed. You've never seen anything like this one, and it is going to keep on going in the follow-up for three to five years."

Warming to a Gore candidacy
Yesterday, a group called Draft Gore used the Amherst Fourth of July parade to launch a petition drive to encourage Gore to join the throngs of candidates vying for President. Though there are chapters of Draft Gore popping up all over the country, right now, the New Hampshire branch of the organization is focused on securing at least 5,000 signatures from registered Granite State voters who are in favor of seeing Gore run.

Gore slams U.S.-led climate pact as sham
Former U.S. Vice President Al Gore slammed the United States and some other big polluters for forming what he called a sham global warming pact separate from the rest of the world. Those countries -- including Australia, China, India, South Korea and Japan -- must join the rest of the world in a new deal to fight global warming, Gore told Reuters ahead of Saturday's Live Earth concerts aimed at raising awareness of climate change.

These boots are made for talking: Gore chats about Live Earth
He came in like a pro, sporting a smaller waistline and a rather shiny pair of black cowboy boots. He shook hands with all the crew and made sure to say howdy-do to the small group of bloggers there. Does any of the above mean Al Gore is going to run for president? You got me. I was too distracted by the boots.

Galyan joins Gore in global warming fight
He's at it again with no smaller goal than to save millions of acres of primitive Alaska from development. And he's become one of former Vice President Al Gore's personally trained champions of the environment.

Why did global warming 'Tip'?
There can be little doubt, then, that rising levels of media coverage of global warming over the past several years have helped the issue reach an apparent tipping point. Yet we can't simply point to the total volume of attention -- we must also consider the content of press coverage over time.

Gore comes alive!
. . . he laid out his current platform most succinctly on NPR's "All Things Considered": "I'm involved in a different kind of campaign myself — to make sure that the climate crisis is the number one issue on the agenda of candidates in both parties. And I know that sounds like an unrealistic goal right now, but I will wager that by the time the elections of November 2008 come around, it will be the No. 1 issue in both parties."

Gore glad his son is safe, being treated
Al Gore III, the youngest of Gore's four children, was previously arrested in 2003 for marijuana possession while a student at Harvard University. He completed substance abuse counseling as part of a program to settle the charge and now lives in Los Angeles, where he is an associate publisher of Good, a philanthropy magazine aimed at young people.

Al Gore: Soothsayer of truth . . .
Al Gore is right again. There is an "assault on reason." We are living in a country starved for a vision: one of democracy and hope.

Path to sustainability misses Bush White House
On 7/7/07, the National Museum of the American Indian was (will be) a venue for a special concert event, ''Mother Earth,'' in the spirit of the Live Earth: The Concerts for a Climate in Crisis message. The pre-eminent gathering place for Native people on the Washington Mall, the museum joins major cities around the world to raise awareness of global climate change. ''There is no more important matter before us than the question of how to live sustainably on the Earth,'' said Tim Johnson, Mohawk, acting director of the museum. Headlining the day's events were be former Vice President Al Gore; Henrietta Mann, Ph.D., Cheyenne, professor emeritus at Montana State University; and Katsi Cook, Mohawk, traditional midwife and founding director of the First Environment Project. Their international work gives a voice to the natural world and its gifts.

Al Gore's inconvenient tax - Part 1
Putting a crimp on global warming can't be done solely by promoting new energy technologies and voluntary conservation. Consumers of oil and coal need a direct tax shock.

Quinnipiac Poll: New Jersey (6/26 - 7/2)

Union heavy embraces green energy as crucial vision of the future
Gerard's dream of a thriving U.S. clean-energy industry has moved a few steps closer to reality. He is not surprised. "We are not promoting some kind of fuzzy, left-wing, feel-good stuff that Rush Limbaugh will love to attack," he says. "This is sound social and economic policy. This gives my grand kids a shot."
