Gore wins award for environmental work
Former Vice President Al Gore won Spain's most prestigious prize Wednesday for his "decisive contribution to progress in solving the grave problems of climate change which threaten our planet."

Gore hits Chicago to chants of 'Run, Al, run'
In an event that felt more like a campaign appearance than a book signing, Al Gore's visit to Chicago this afternoon brought the usual speculation about another presidential bid. "Run, Al, run," some chanted on the third floor of the Borders on State Street, where some of his biggest fans started arriving before sunrise for an event that started shortly before 1 p.m.

While Al Gore was signing autographs for about 1,000 people who had waited in line to buy his new book inside, outside this State Street Borders store, fans from far and wide were collecting their own autographs from 1,500 people who want Gore to run again for president. Bob Alexander, of East Lansing, Mich., said, "We've got at least 1,200 signatures. Hopefully, we'll have 1,500 or more before we're done."

(Clinton's) money lead does not deter other candidates' staunch supporters like Harry B. Cook. Cook, a former member of the Chaka Fattah for Mayor exploratory committee, has been busy organizing support for Al Gore. Serving as local organizer for the national Draft Al Gore Campaign, www.algore.org, Cook would like to be a convention delegate if Gore decides to run because he likes the former vice president's environmental agenda.

And of course, someone asked if he was going to run for president in 2008. His response, which even he admitted he keeps giving, is that he feels he can better accomplish his goals on the grassroots level than on the campaign trail. He never ruled out running for office again, though, and he did say pointedly, "Don't get me wrong. I would love to be president."

Stop King Coal!
Congress could vote in the next fews weeks on a bill that would double our greenhouse gas emissions from planes and cars. It sounds crazy, but this is exactly what will happen if a current plan to use "liquid coal" passes. Coal is the dirtiest of fossil fuels and we have a serious global warming problem.
