I admire VP Gore's commitment to the environment, but we don't have to wait for the slow wheels of political change to turn. We can be active right now. In fact, if we wait for the government to do something, we aren't taking responsibility. Gore might should have been president, Bush might be horrible on environmental issues, but the real question is what are we as individuals doing? How many trees have you saved today?

This is what I'm doing, and we could really use your help, whoever you are. And if anyone sees Al Gore, please let him know he's welcome to walk with us!
all good,
Frank.
Though I am in Canada, just a half hour drive to the border. And lots of what happens in the U.S. affects us here in many ways. You know, our fearless leader Steve with his head up dubyews butt, thankfully he wasn't in charge when Bush et al decided the price of a barrel of oil was too low at $12 and invaded Iraq looking for the WMD, since there were none there, they brought lots. Now with the price around $70 the oil sands nightmare in Alberta is making lots of money for all concerned. They have managed to mess up the water table-hydrology of the whole area, and it will get much worse before it gets better.
On the environmental side, I am working on developing my own property for renewable energy generation. A truly hybrid system, 1.5 Mw of solar panels, a 1.5 Mw gearless wind turbine, and trying to develop a run-of-river project too! The water has the potential for 5 - 10 Mw. I realize that in the grand scheme of things 8 - 13 Mw of green energy might not be a lot, but just imagine if there were a couple of thousand of me's out there doing the same thing. Every bit does help.
