Today's quote . . ."Let us never forget that government is ourselves and not an alien power over us. The ultimate rulers of our democracy are not a President and senators and congressmen and government officials, but the voters of this country." -
Franklin D. RooseveltToday's talk . . .http://www.huffingtonpost.com/dave-johnson...or_b_48784.htmlAway we go: As Gore's book gathers steam, so does the smearingOn Thursday, Time magazine put up on its website an advance article of its cover story on Al Gore's new book, with excerpts. Immediately the right started the character assassination. Just like we predicted, there's not a word about the merits of Gore's arguments. Not a word. Why do you think that is? Many smear examples are presented.

He used rational persuasion as he cited reputable research on global warming. He then used consultation when he asked us to join with him in doing what each of us can do to help decrease global warming."

ACTION ITEM: Go here and vote for Gore in the online pollhttp://www.primakow.net/evan/politics/al-g...et-in-the-race/Al Gore: Get in the race"He's was the VP for 8 years, spent the 8 years before that as a Senator, and another 8 years before that as congressman. That's more experience as an elected official (on a National level, none the less) than Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton combined. If that's not enough, he's been touring internationally for a few years to help combat global warming (Or do they call it "climate change" now? I lost track..) in such an effective manner that it earned him the honor of a nomination for the Nobel Peace Prize."
http://www.americanchronicle.com/articles/...articleID=27456Washington's weird scienceLooking back at the last six years, one can only speculate why Bush and company would spend so much energy denying humans' contribution to greenhouse gases, even going as far as censoring governmental reports and strong-arming prominent scientists to prevent the truth from becoming public. One thing is for certain: the current administration will not be in office much longer to contend with the mess they were in a position to help correct. History will have the final say about their inaction and subterfuge, all in the name of the Almighty Dollar and the American Way.

Oscar winner, media darling and former Vice President Al Gore has a new book coming out this week called "The Assault on Reason." The jacket copy describes it as a "powerful manifesto for clear thinking." The Bush White House might disagree with that, but we'll bet Leo's on board. (Tuesday)

"No set of coincidences could possibly result in this pattern. It suggests a scheme to use the levers of government to shape the pool of voters in favor of the ruling party. In a fledgling democracy, we would consider this shocking corruption. The chilling truth is that it can happen here -- and apparently it did."
