I am taking this space only to say that I just went to a local store to buy the Newspaper, a thing I really enjoy reading on Sunday morning. Well for a $1.50 I got no Front page, no local news and no commentary. I ended up with 6 pounds of advertising.
Thank goodness for The New York Times and Washington Post and other publications on line.
MY DAYS OF BUYING THE FORT WORTH STAR-TELEGRAM ARE OVER AND I INFORMED THEM IN WORDS I CAN'T REPEAT HERE... UP YOURS SO CALLED NEWS!
:wtf:
In the same vein, I hate, repeat hate, when I bother to get up early, go to the store to get the NY Times, NY Daily News, NY Post and get home, and one of the dang sections I specifically wanted are not there.
And yes, I know, I check, but sometimes you think the NY Times mag with the crossword puzzle is there, and its another glossy section
Or you forget
(A few weeks ago the NY Daily News didn't have the entertainment section)
Then I have to go back and get it. PITA. (and its not like its next door, so gas and time)
Same thing happens if it is delivered, they forget a section or three.
And the store people look at you like you are nuts anyhow.
(You have nothing better to do than read all these things?)
(although the Post and News are rightwing, they have some great local sections, and a great sports section so I buy it...find I actually read more in those 2 papers as most stories in the NY Times I already know anyhow online.)
also
Hate that the Village Voice is free in Manhattan, but in NJ and outer boros of NY it
is $2.50 a week. (ALthough lately the Voice sucks since the latest owner fired most of the good leftwing truth writers).

To add insult to insult I also checked my mail from yesterday and got a renewal notice. They haven't delivered a paper to my door for over two months even though the subscription was paid in full.
I wouldn't pay $1.50 or what ever ridiculous price they now charge for a Sunday paper unless there is something about AL GORE in it. If I want it that bad I'll wait until my library chucks it.
Waste of money when all you get is Bush, Bush, Bush and other bad news along with ads that are mostly worthless.
