2008 Greater North Chicagoland Gore Group 4/29 Meeting Review!

Had a good meeting today in Skokie at the public library. We moved outdoors because the weather was so nice. The small turnout was more than made up for by the appearance of Ben, someone who had worked on the Gore in 2000 and 2004 campaigns. Totally unexpected. What a bonus!! We explored a couple of topics...

1. Responding quickly and decisively to all negative (smears) media about Gore HAS to be done EACH AND EVERY TIME we see it.

2. Urging everyone to write Al a letter asking him to run and mail it to his office:

Our hope is that a ton of letters may help him in his decision.

3. Urging everyone to write and mail a letter to the National Science Teachers Association for refusing to accept 50K free copies of "An Inconvenient Truth."

"Why is it that you would readily accept “educational” material from the oil companies, such as “Fuel-less: You can’t be cool without fuel”, and yet reject 50,000 free copies of “An Inconvenient Truth”; a film heralded by the scientific community? It seems your reliance on the big oil companies’ funds for your capital campaigns, etc. is getting in the way of your objectivity and hence the credibility of your organization. You truly are violating your Mission statement and Guiding Principles."

We also discussed what we can do RIGHT NOW as far as getting Al on the Illinois primary ballot and persuading others to promote Al... etc.
