This was pointed out to me on another forum, and I wonder if anyone here can help me unravel an apparent discrepancy.
On the detailed accomplishments page, the following was posted, (I don't think there is anything wrong with reproducing an image of the text on the same website it was posted on originally):

The law creating the Strategic Petroleum Reserve was signed in 1975. Gore only got to Congress in 1977. So how was he an "early supporter"?.
Also, I would like a date and time, if possible, for that quote he made supporting it.
Incidentally, there are ways to support a bill without actually being a member of Congress, (yet). You can make speeches on behalf of it as a private citizen, or try to organize a grass roots campaign. Or, if the implementation of the Stratgic Petroleum Reserve required additional funding sometime while it was built, (I am sure the reserves did not appear overnight, there must have been quite a lot of construction work), he could have pushed for the necessary additional funds once he got to Congress.
I am just curious as to how he supported this, especially what specifically was his earliest support.
PS: I voted for Al Gore twice and am leaning toward supporting him again. This apparent discrepancy was pointed out by a conservative on another board. In fact, he pointed toward the legislative accomplishments page of this very board, that is how I found this site. I am looking for some kind of answer to him.
