Title: State of the Union tonight
Description: reasons to watch
whybaby - January 23, 2007 03:24 PM (GMT)
I'm going to try to watch the "Fictionalized Strong State of the Union" speech tonight :!: (dramamine anyone?). Why?, you might well ask. Because we have a new Congress that may :Y: stand up to him for the first time in 6 years. Because Bush's approval rating is finally heading for minus infinity, where it belongs. And because it's going to be a delicious Schadenfreude* moment for me and every other progressive.
I expect anything from politely cool to openly hostile reactions from the Congress to the things that Bush says tonight, but particularly cool when he pontificates about Iraq and global warming (oh, I think I'm gonna hurl). :dripple: Knowing that Al Gore was courageously correct about the war before it even began, and that Al Gore's documentary won its well-deserved nomination, and that his truth has always been THE truth, I expect that Bush will get especially cold reactions to whatever he says about these two issues. Never again will he have one iota of credibility about any subject. But tonight I'll be thinking of how well the day started, and of Our Hero in his ascendancy, while the sonofaBush falls on his face.
Love to you all.
Dinah
P.S. Don't forget to watch Jim Webb give his response.
*Schadenfreude - the pleasure one experiences in the misfortunes of another.

I'll definitely be watching Webb's democratic response and three other things you won't be seeing the cheers the republicans used to do when they were in the majority also Pelosi will be behind the bench instead of Hastert when Bush speaks and you'll be hearing the words madame speaker instead of mr.

i will watch the re run of his last speech. i am more interested in the democratic response by the rookie senator than bush

Oh yeah, ap215, hearing the announcement for "Madame Speaker" will be absolutely dee-LISH!
And hearing Jim Webb, Earthman, will help take the bad taste away.

I doubt I will watch the lying THIEF. First off I'll be working at my neighbor's. But to be perfectly honest, I can't stand to look at his ugly smug mug for more than three seconds. I get sick just looking at Bush. :bad:

I had to be at work during the State of the Union speech so I didn't have to consider watching this evil clown just to be informed of what his current lies are :dripple:
What's different is that now in 2007 it's the same old crap but now he is addressing Speaker Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Reid
Thank God for that. I trust and hope we have enough freedom in our genes to prevent our Republic from becoming a full-blown Empire and that Bush will not be allowed to declare himself Caesar and get away with it for much longer. :spikey:

Wayne , hows life treating you?
The think I believe I found the most repulsive was the standing ovation he received after each statement he made. The same statements he has made year after year and never followed through on.
There were a few times the Democrats sat silent but not many. I would love to see them finally stand up to him and simply say during the address -we've already heard this same sh-t again and again. Try something new. And by the way...if we don't think your plan for Iraq will work it's not our job to come up with an alternative. As The so called Commander-In-Chief as you so love to call yourself (makes you feel important does it) it's your job. That's what your so highly paid for.
And if you over looked it there has been a plan for years offered by Murtha, other members of congress and also the report by Baker and his experts which you chose to ignore.
Oh, I forgot, you talk to God. Well guess what fool. Your either hard of hearing or it's not God's voice your hearing but either Satan or even more likely your self-serving, inflated and miss guided ego. Grow up King and quit. Give the job to someone who know what their doing which you have shown time and time again you don't.

The standing ovation that made my skin crawl was the one at the very beginning when he was announced and walked down the aisle to the podium. You'd think he was popular or something. America has this reverance for its presidents, no matter who they are or what they've done. I mean, yeah, okay, some applause, but the guy has thumbed his nose not only at the American people but at Congress, too, and they still respect him, just because he's president?
