I thought he wouldn't say until January. I hope he says no. This guy will lose for sure, I mean look at
this. It's pretty bad when a black guy can't get his own people to support him. Plus his wife does not want him to run.
When they mean this week, do they mean he'll say by sunday or the week after X-mas?

That article you linked to is VERY interesting, kingzjester. Thanks for pointing it out. I've been so involved with Gore that I really haven't been paying much attention to Obama and the events he's holding. But I suppose it would make sense that African-Americans wouldn't feel that connected to him.
I hope he drops out, too, but one thing that concerns me is talk I heard from the talking heads the other night about how either he runs now or he never runs again. I'm not sure that necessarily has to be so, but if Obama is being advised along those lines, he may end up deciding he has to go for it now.
I didn't realize that his wife didn't want him to run. That should weigh in big, I would think. But quite frankly, the guy is young, he's inexperienced, and I think this job is over his head. For now. I think he's very intelligent, and I think someday he'd probably make a very good candidate, between his charisma and his obvious brains and political savvy. I just don't think the time is now. I really hope he declines.

Your welcome. I like Obama also but I want Gore in 2008. I just don't think an african-american can win in 2008. Just look at Harold Ford Jr., he was way better than Mayor Bob Corker (hell 32,000 911 calls went unanswered when he was mayor). The only reason Bob Corker won was because he was white and that lame ass "call me ad". If the democrat was white he would have beat Corker by 5%.

There is a big difference between Ford, who had lots and lots of baggage, and Obama.
For one thing, Ford is so rightwing, he might as well be a republican. Obama seems to be an Al Gore type democrat. That is a very important difference, because the Democratic base is to the left.
Democrats shouldn't mix them up.

I, too, hope he decides against it. He would lose and blow our huge shot at finally winning back the White House.
I have a feeling that he, maybe even in addition to Hillary, is going to decide against it. Who knows, though... anything is possible. I think if Al Gore would take further steps, it would cause those two to think twice about it. But, it doesn't look as if he's doing all that much in order to get ready for a run, besides keep the door open.

Thinking like this, Democrats shouldn't also say they would vote for Condi "A key architect of Bush's wars" Rice over well qualified Democrats, right?
One thing Democrats shouldn't do is have political litmus tests, like you're an advocate for. If so, you can officially wave bye bye to the concept of winning elections. Interesting fact: In the 2006 mid-terms, Democrats easily recieved the moderate vote by a margin of 60-40. Without them, we wouldn't have done it.
But, one thing you have to realize is that the constituency in TN and IL are completely different. Al Gore knows this... look at how he represented TN as a Representative and a Senator.
I'd like to see you spew your hatred about Ford around Chris, the admin, since they're pretty good friends. Chris, that lucky dog, was even mentioned by Ford in his concession speech. :good:
