"A People's History of the United States" by Howard Zinn

This history chronicles our history beginning with Columbus in 1492. This book discusses history from a people's view. For example, he discusses the impact of Columbus' arrival on the indiginous poplulation. He goes on throughout history discussing how major historical events played out for the the common people and for those with the short end of the stick in society.
I started reading it while I had company and they had to take the book back home with them before I finished chapter two and was enthralled. Just ordered it from alibris and it should be here in about 3 days...can't wait!

Sounds really interesting. Thanks for the recommendation!

Erin, I can't find this book on Amazon. Is it generally available?

Yes, It should be. Earthmother.
Strange.
I ordered it from
http://www.alibris.com

I don't know if it was a bestseller or not but it was widely distributed. They had several copies new and used on alibris. Amazon.com wouldn't censor would they?

Here is the whole title:

"A People's History of the United States: 1492-Present"

Don't know if that matters or not.

I guess the 1492-Present had to be added.
