A Plea To Independant and Undecided Voters:

To those who may read forums and visit sites to seek an answer regarding a choice this November and are Independant or undecided, I wish to make this plea to you. Though I and many other Democrats are not entirely pleased with the ticket we have been given for this election and have and will continue to criticize its policies if we deem necessary, it does not in any way diminish the urgency with which we must defeat the Bush administration this November. I believe Americans of all politics must hold their leaders accountable and ask questions, which is why I personally refuse to subscribe to the, "only say nice things even if you don't mean it" mentality. These times are too important for us to do any less than ask questions, demand answers and hold all of our leaders regardless of party accountable. The Bush administration however, has not been held accountable. They instead have done nothing but trample on all that was and is in many ways still good about this wonderful country. They have defiled our democratic system, they have trashed our constitution, dismissed the will of the people, and they have laid waste to the true spirit of commeraderie in the world by replacing it with hate, revenge, death, destruction, and war. We cannot allow them to continue to do this.

Therefore, while some Democrats fail to understand why those of us who hold Senator Kerry to the same standards of accountability do so, this must also be made clear: A vote for Ralph Nader is a vote for Bush and the end to our Democratic process as we know it. Ralph Nader cannot win, therefore, to save our country from sinking deeper and deeper into this abyss of irresponsibility, greed, depravity, secrecy, and complacency, we must bite the bullet this November and vote for the candidate with the greatest chance of defeating Bush regardless of our personal feelings about their policies. Please consider the gravity of this vote and this decision, and yes, have hope. For if we succeed in defeating the Bush regime it will be a happy day, and we as Americans can then hold John Kerry's feet to the fire regarding this war in Iraq, and demand that the Patriot Act be repealed...That is providing we also seek to vote out ALL in Congress who also subscribed to the destructive agenda of this regime that has never really had the best interests of the American people at heart. As an American first who is vehemently opposed to this war in Iraq and who still feels betrayed by my party for dismissing my President, I will still place my vote next to John Kerry's name this November against Bush, hope it counts, and pray that we can once and for all rid this country of the Bush stench of corruption. I believe that is putting this country first now as hard as it may be to do so, and I urge you to think about doing this as well for the future of this nation.

Thank you.

However, thank god she is urging unity instead of divisity.

Could have fooled me. Over at AGD, she's trashing Kerry left and right.

GSC Admin - August 1, 2004 07:43 PM (GMT)
Really? I don't post over there. What is she saying.

Just the usual crap. When the went to the new message board the ban on her did not transfer over so she is using every opportunity to trash Kerry, finding every anti-Kerry article on the Web to post.
And as usual if you disagree, she claims she is being personally attacked.
They have a new system of Karma points over there. Jan is negative 3 and when she bitched about it the admin told her off.

GSC Admin - August 1, 2004 11:28 PM (GMT)
Oh yea, I saw that about the Karma. I also posted to Dylan today.

Not that I'm defending Jan, believe me, but I do think we should at least be glad she finally accepted (apparently), now that the convention is over, that Gore isn't a possibility this year and that we have to get behind Kerry. I don't know what she's saying about Kerry over at AGDems because I don't post there much, but there are some things Kerry will have to answer to in this campaign, and I see nothing wrong with trying to make sure he knows how the public feels (if, indeed, the public feels this way). Jan is bound to get bad karma at AGDems (but honestly, that karma system is childish, like trying to win Brownie points or something). I think we should just let her do her thing, take her to task when you need to, and be grateful in the meantime that she's dropped the Gore campaign.

Jan is still trashing Kerry at every opportunity. The admins over there told her:

One man's "honesty" is another man's unfair and unfounded attack..... Say something NICE about a prominent Democrat once in a while... sheesh....You know, if you don't have anything nice to say about our party's nominees for the White House, maybe you should just talk about other things.  We're a partisan site about moving the Gore agenda forward-- Al Gore supports this ticket and by extension so do we.

The Karma system is childish but Jan is equally childish for complaining about it.
I posted in three different threads in response to other people's posts and Jan came after me everytime and then had the nerve to say thay I was pursuing a vendetta against her.

earthmother - August 2, 2004 07:59 PM (GMT)
Well, the fact is that you and Jan have a history of . . . well, a history of something. I came on board here after that history was apparently well established, so I don't know what it's all about. I know a lot about Jan from working closely with her, and while she can be extremely abrasive and doesn't work well with other people (IMO) and managed to offend just about everyone she's worked with that I'm aware of, she's not a bad person. She is who she is. I agree that she shouldn't be spreading ill will toward Kerry on a partisan board, a board that has made it clear, as Dylan said, that supporting Kerry, in their opinion, is part of furthering Gore's agenda. I suppose she'd do well to find an anti-Kerry site. Maybe she should hook up with Bush Central? Seriously, though, my experience with Jan has been that it's better to let her be than to cross her. I don't think I ever once, in all the time I worked with her, got her to see something in a way other than the way she saw it. So I just stopped trying. And I left the group. Occasionally I will still post something in response to something she's said at AGDems, but if it's at all controversial, I usually avoid it. Cluck cluck! I just know from experience that there's no point. But I also think at this point, James, that as soon as she sees a post is from you, she reacts a certain way (usually negatively), regardless of what you might have said (although I assume that what you're saying to her about Kerry goes against what she believes, so no wonder it's been a problem). How you handle the whole thing is obviously your business. I just continue to wonder how one small woman from New Jersey can continue to be the cause of so much aggravation.
