Title: M. Night Shyamalan's "The Village"

Just got back from seeing "The Village." Go see it. There's so much more to this movie than it being a so-called horror movie. I won't give it away, and I hope you don't hear from someone else or read what's really going on in the movie because it'll spoil the whole thing for you, but take my word for it: Even if you don't generally like horror films, this one's worth seeing. It is scary, at least initially, but the premise of the story is what really makes it good. :good: :good: :good:

I heard the film was freaky. Might go see it this weekend.

The movie is freaky, and while I don't normally startle easily in movies, I had several heart attacks through the course of this one. But I said, there are many layers to this movie, and watching the whole thing unravel while trying to figure it out is definitely worthwhile.

I was supposed to go see this movie today. :( My uncle never called me back.

My favorite Night movie has to be Signs. I love the thought of aliens. Abduct me!

Oh, the old abduction fantasy, eh? Well, you'll be really surprised when you learn what's going on in this movie. If you liked Signs, you'll love this, but for different reasons. I think Shyamalan is going to be our next Stephen King.

I would like to see this movie and the new Denzel movie: The Mancharurian Candidate. It is about a candidate who is brainwashed by special interests. Sound familar?

The film made $50.8M to open at first in the Box Office this weekend.

I wasn't a part of that. :(

Actually, the The Manchurian Candidate has better ratings than the Village. The Village also played in alot more theaters. I am pulling for this movie. I really like Denzel and the premise of the movie.

Ebert :bad: Roeper :good:

I was shocked on how badly Ebert rated The Village. :!:

"The Village" is not a great movie in the sense of it being a "great film." And those who review it badly are reacting partly to the fact that they're let down by the fact that it's not your typical horror film. There's more going on here than that. That's why I liked it so much. I expected just another dumb horror movie with monsters walking around scaring people. Yeah, some of it is predictable, and it's not brilliant movie-making, but the story is interesting, it has a statement to make about humans and society, and it made for a good night's entertainment. It was scary in the same way a Stephen King or Alfred Hitchcock movie is scary. It's a psychological thriller, and I thought it was quite well done.

When I first saw the previews, I thought it was saying something about the illegal immigrants.
