 This is great news :D I'm still kinda worried about that "nagging" issue of the ELECTORIAL COLLEGE? Hopefully the toss-up states will NOT be decieved by George Bush's NEW plan for the next four years and give him a thumbs down :bad:

Haven't heard about his new plan yet.
Almost afraid to ask.
You know, the dem convention went so overboard about not talking about peace and emphasizing the military, I wonder if the republicans will go the other way and hold up peace signs and endorse love and tolerance for their fellow man... NOT!!

Yes, FreeBird, despite the popular vote margins, the state-by-state electoral vote counts leave cause for concern. Somewhere in another thread here I posted the current thinking on how electoral votes would go in November. Found it: (from
http://www.electoral-vote.com/). Ugh. The whole thing doesn't show below, so I'll tell you the legend. Blue states and blue-bordered states are Kerry. Red states and red-bordered states are Bush. White states are evenly split.

These numbers are from July 30 and show Kerry with 289 electoral votes and Bush with 232 (and 17 exactly tied). It's interesting to note, however, that just a week ago, the numbers were Kerry 332, Bush 195. Ouch.

 Thanks for the REFRESH earthmother........cool! I'm thinkin PA and OHIO may be leaning towards Kerry? Florida? I havn't a clue!!!!  As for the remaining (white-ish) states :?: Let's hope it goes in the DEMOCRAT'S favor
One note: The overall employment and economy picture for SPRING 2004 came out WORSE than expected :( This MIGHT HELP the DEMOCRATS!
Have a good one :) ......................Andrew Paul

Now here's a question for you. In that electoral-vote map I posted above, why is Florida leaning toward Bush? Isn't there a huge backlash among Dems in Florida because of 2000? I know brother Jeb is governor there and all, but I'd have thought all the disenfranchised voters from 2000 would be out in force to be sure the state went to Kerry. Also, it would be horrible for us and for Gore if the state went Rep. this year because then they would use that as validation that it had gone Rep. in 2000, which we all know it didn't.

No doubt earthmother it would be absolutely horrible if Florida goes republican in this year's election. Hopefully we'll do everything we can to make sure this election is a fair one, have the people's votes counted and prevent the republicans do their dirty tricks and outsmart them.
