Title: Irregularities at the polls in Florida?

Get this, gang. Republicans in West Palm Beach County (heavily Republican) are actually complaining because there might be some problems at the polls as a result of the Mark Foley thing. Imagine that--problems at the polls, something that might unfairly affect the outcome of the election. Hmmm. Can't imagine when I've seen that before. Not in Florida, anyway.

The problem is this: It's too late to take Foley's name off the ballot, so voters will go to the polls seeing his name despite the fact that Joe Negron is actually the person they'd be voting for if they vote for Foley. But Rep. officials are concerned that people won't understand that voting for Foley won't mean voting for Foley; it'll be voting for Negron. They say it's not fair because the ballot will be confusing and the outcome of the election might be affected. Oh, and the butterfly ballot wasn't confusing? But that was fair?

Pardon me if I don't have much sympathy for their case.

And this is West Palm Beach County we are talking about. Remember 2000? I know I have said it before, but it's obviously true, the republicans are nothing but whining hypocrites.

That was my point. They gave us such a hard time because of being upset about all the stuff that happened in Florida in 2000 (that changed the course of history because of what Bush has done that Gore would never have done), but they're going to get all bent out of shape over something like this that will only affect one congressional seat. It's hardly a big deal compared to what we had to swallow. I'm not saying it's ever good for there to be problems at the polls, but really, put it in context.

Ironic that this is happening in Florida.

The arrogance and hypocrisy of republicans just boils my blood. And it's not just Bush, it just about all of them.

I have to admit, it seemed just a tad ridiculous to hear the one Rep. I was listening to (some election official in West Palm Beach County) whining about the problem. I mean, really. After what happened in 2000?

It still makes my blood boil . . .
