Today, President Bill Clinton taped an interview with Fox News’ Chris Wallace, which is scheduled to be aired Sunday. He was told the interview would focus on his nonpartisan efforts to raise over $7 billion to combat the world’s biggest problems.
Early in the interview, Wallace attempted to smear Clinton with the same kind of misinformation contained in ABC’s Path to 9/11. Clinton was having none of it."

What was that picture I saw yesterday? Al Gore, Bill Clinton, and Richard Branson all together shaking hands!!
Bill and Al have campaingned together successfully in the past. I'm starting to think they may do more of it in the future. Al Gore can remain "Presidential". Brother Bill can turn into a bit of an attack dog for Al and then Hillary can become Senate Majority Leader.
Sound like a plan? What say ye all?

I just read the entire transcript. It is absolutely awesome.
Here are a few selected comments from the blog:
Clinton took Li’l Wallace to the woodshed and laid into him but good. Clinton is a one-man War Room on the fly. That was the mother of all smackdowns from the most popular US president since Kennedy. He ran circles around the right wing. I’ll be interested to see how Fux News edits this one. Where do they start?
Looks like Mr. Clinton took a dump on Mr. Wallace. It also looks like Mr. Wallace isn’t very good at interviews that dont’ follow a script.
Thers is no way Fox news has the balls to air this unedited and in full. They are the biggest bunch of lying cowards I have ever seen.
Reading this was powerful and a temporary antidote to the underhanded way the repugs are handling the torture issue . . .
I’m concerned, as well, that faux news will edit this because Clinton did make apologies of sorts several times. They are capable of any sort of deception . . . they have no ethics nor morals. And Wallace will refuse to look silly . . .
Can you imagine his arrogance in even thinking he could “handle” Clinton?
I would so love to see Clinton go head to head in a debate with Chimpy. What I wouldn’t give to see that. Clinton would leave Chimpy weeping like a child with a urine stain on the front of his slacks.
I’m sure fox will have some breaking news on the lindburg kidnaping to preemt this historic a** kicking of one of their fair and balanced pea brains.
Email FOX “News” that the complete transcript is out here, all over the place. Demand that they air it in totality. It is shattering to contrast Wiilliam Jefferson Clinton with that odious little traitor bunkered in our White House. Please put forth an effort that may assist the survival of our country…..distribute copies of this brilliant man’s ode to honor to everyone that you can.

Likely Fox News Edited version:
Wallace “I have to ask you why you didn’t do more to get Bin Laden”
Clinton “I tried but I failed.”
Wallace “Now let me ask you about the Clinton Global Intiative…”
All the rest will be edited out….
Faux News has already started the spin machine. Fauxnews.com is promoting the interview as: “Clinton Gets Crazed.” Boy, that didn’t take long. Good Grief.

Works for me!
I guess Gore and Clinton have demonstrated their abilities as fundraisers! (Branson attributes his decision to commit 3B to a breakfast talk with Gore).
Gore made a remark when in a photo op with Bill and Hill "this is like old times"
maybe if we all fantasize hard enough...

they do say it will appear unedited. But they have to point out that the finger-wagging is reminiscent of when he said "I did not have sex with that woman"
Wallace goes on and on about how he asked a simple innocent question and Clinton "went off"

Well, I watched it and was further impressed. Clinton was masterful.
Even more impressive, though, was that it looks like faux did some research overnight - the "panel discussion" started out looking like it was going to try to pick him apart - wallace's intro of it certainly sounded that way, and his promo spot last night definitely did. But as the panel progressed from one to the next, you could almost watch the people taking a step back from the auto-response method, until by the time it got to the last guy he really was fairly supportive. He pointed out the fact that Clinton was singling faux out as the most representative of the anti-Clinton yellow press (my phraseology) and seemed almost to send a signal to the others that "hey guys, we're on thin ice here". They went back thru the panel and you could sense the backpeddling, or attitude adjustment. I said to my wife "hey, they blinked!"
Interested to hear how others saw it. Maybe I am biased and see what I want to.
I certainly didn't get a sense that they were doing a very aggressive job of portraying it as a "meltdown" or anything. They did point out that it was a "gale force wind" or something to that effect, but said so in the context that it certainly was not the first time an interviewer had walked into a buzz saw. And Wallace did characterize the ABC thing in a negative light, pointed out that there were three distinct things that were factually wrong, and that the changes made by ABC as a result of Clinton's pre-broadcast objections only marginally addressed one of them. It was almost as if they were saying, well, folks, you can understand why he was so passionate.
It seemed like thay were, rather than trying to "pile on" along WITH the ABC thing (which I think was the initial intent) they were trying to avoid being lumped with it!
Kind of like bush trying to blame Clinton for his scr*wups!
They even went on to critize bush some; Brit Hume tried to quibble over the 1/7 troop ratio and say "but there are NATO troops in Afghanistan" and one of the others shut him down basically saying NATO is a pittance and essentially supporting Clinton's point. They actually said you need to separate Iraq from the war on terror, which, of course, bush is trying desperately not to do.
I would call this one a TKO!
But somebody tell me if I was watching thru rose colored glasses.

I missed it?
 |
The interview is being posted "in its entirety" on foxnews.com
They replay the show in the evening - 5 pm chicago, but it may vary with local stations. Check your local listings. The "after-interview spin-session that wasn't" may not be on the web; I haven't looked.
They backed away a LOT from the "Clinton goes berserk" approach; it may actually be related to the transcript getting out, and their decision that they dare not edit it.
I actually sense a sea change. It's been growing over the past several months (or more) but this just could be a "watershed moment". ATTABOY Bill!
And of course, since we're on a Gore for President forum, the relevance of a Clinton success as attack dog going after the entire movement to pin everything that's wrong on HIM, and obviously, by association, his VP and all democrats, cannot be understated. His passive-aggressive remarks about Rove were brilliant. He chuckles, says "I admire the guy" and at the same time it is patently obvious that the tag line he is thinking is " - the weasel". He marginalizes the heck out of him and their transparent fear-mongering tactics. The talking heads didn't even get around to tackling that zinger. Wallace says "do you think they are trying to spread fear?" and Clinton says "well of course they are!" and it is so much more impressive live than in the transcript. Obviously those who want to keep drinking the kool-aid will do so, but
Clinton got himself 22 minutes of free air time on FOX NEWS to tell the viewing audience that Rove and the neocons are playing them for fools!!!
Now how brilliant is THAT?

I checked and it's on at 6 pm EST.
I won't miss it!

I hope all the dumb ass pugs that think they are so smart watch the interview. Also all the people that have been brainwashed into thinking Clinton 'blew' the chance to get Osama. This should be a feather in the cap for the Dems. IMO
earthmother - September 25, 2006 01:03 AM (GMT)
It must be really satisfying for Clinton to not have to worry anymore about what he says and be able to wag his finger in the face of the likes of Chris Wallace. He pulled out all the stops! He was mad, all right, and he didn't mince words.
Point, set, match . . . to Bill Clinton!

I watched the interview when it aired and I was proud of Clinton. He stood up to a pile of dung that has no business being in the public view. He ask Clinton one question about his Global Initiative and then jumped on bin Laden. But he was a bit lost when Clinton jumped back. Loved it.
Even saw some of the spin they tried to put on it and believe it or not they were actually talking about his socks not being long enough. These guy's are an insult to the word news. As a matter of fact they are an insult to the human race.
  :D :good:
