Description: MORE!

This is the type of ad we need more of, and it looks like they're going to cut more with other nay-saying Senators.

Yes. It's time we expose them for what they are.

Most Americans vote without having any idea what their representatives have voted for or against. They simply run down the column for their party and pull those levers or punch those holes or whatever.

Dems. would do well to make more of these. :good:

This is a great tool. I've seen others, but I don't have the URL's handy. I'm bookmarking this one. :good:

I have to admit it makes me uncomfortable. Only because I know the same sort of thing has been used against our candidates, and in some cases it is an "out of context" thing.

Like Kerry voted against (what was it- armor for humvees? I forget) because it was in a bill that was going to give halliburton a blank check or whatever, and what he was doing was saying lets kill this bill and pass a good one that does provide the armor

And of course the attack ad leaves all that out. George Allen seems to me to be a two-faced sob, and I suspect the vote was pure party-line cut spending without regard to consequences. But it COULD be this is not the issue to nail him with, just that it makes a good ad.

Ah well, sauce for the goose...

What we desperately need is reform of the whole legislative process. Get rid of the monstrous 800-page bills with riders added overnight, all stuck in as favors to lobbyists. Make the law of the land have a "flatter" organization. No more "chapter 44 section 92 paragraph 12 subparagraph 966 clause 17".

Keep it simply structured, and don't allow anything longer than - I don't know - ten pages or so? be subject to a vote. NO goofy amendments that have nothing to do with the original subject of the bill.

They'd have to spend more time voting and less time politicing. Well, good - as it should be!

It would call for a revamping of all the workflow of how bills get passed. But lord knows there is sophisticated technology available whereby a 21st century process could replace the current 18th century one. It would also take away a lot of the power of committee chairmen, where stuff just never gets out of committee. That would also be good. Shoot, a freshman representative from the minority party today has little or no chance of doing anything effective.

And of course, in the process, it would provide the "line item veto" since all that stuff would not be bundled. That too, would be to the good.

THEN an ad like this would be spot on. Youd know he voted intentionally against this expenditure, and could hold him accountable.

In the meantime, I hope this ad crucifies him!

Unfortunately, the American public will never educate itself enough to do its own homework. It's like when they recently said that Dems. didn't vote for a bill that would raise the minimum wage. The Dems.? Well, yeah, because tacked along with raising the minimum wage was something that would have given the rich another huge tax break. So the Dems. voted it down. But all anyone heard about was that the Dems. voted to not increase the minimum wage.

A well-informed populace would be a wonderful thing, but I'm not holding my breath.

DBCIII is genuinely going the extra mile for fairness. I think he is right to do so. If we do not appreciate misleading attacks on folks on our side then we need to take care that we don't follow their same lack of respect for the American public

Some basic investigation should uncover whether a criticism of a Republicans voting record is valid or misleading

Even for a dreamer, reforming how congress operates and bills are voted upon is a long-term process. There could be unintended bad consequences. I would say an intelligent and non-partisan panel should look into this and report on their analysis and recommendations

Most peoples lives are so busy now...they need the condensed version. They need to see a connection between Democratic policies put into place and how that gives them hope in their daily work and family life. Health Care, Education, Minimum Wage, etc.
