Don't you think going through the atmosphere with thousands of gallons of burning rocket fuel would cause more damage to the ozone layers than anything else we humans and our automobiles have ever done?

The ozone layer?? Don't you mean global warming? The depletion of the ozone layer was caused by chemicals in aerosol cans which are not used anymore. I don't think rockets use those chemicals. The ozone layer has repaired itself nicely by the way since the use of the harmful chemicals has ceased. Anyway the space shuttle does not go up everyday, if it did, it certainly would be doing its share of contributing to global warming.
