Title: A Soldier's Support

mustang_vice17 - May 31, 2006 12:55 AM (GMT)
Good day to all! I am new to this forum and if one were to look at my background, it would seem strange that I would join or post in a forum such as this one. I am in the military and am in fact a registered Republican. All that said however, the Republican party's arrogance and close-mindedness has disgusted me to the point of near anger for quite a while now. Despite my party registration (which I am a hair's breath from abandoning by the way), I am an avid supporter of Vice President Gore. I cast my first ever presidential vote for the Vice President in 2000 (and ironically enough it was a Florida absentee balot) and I (like nearly all of you do) sincerely hope that Mr. Gore eventually decides he will run. Ever since that cold December 13th 2000, I have felt that our nation has skewed from the right path.
As an Army officer and a 2 tour veteran of the Iraqi Campaign, I have seen and experienced first hand the results of the misguided leadership from the current administration in Washington, leadership and decisions that were-and have been-based on narrow minded simplistic ideology as opposed to factual evidence or even logical reason.
I strongly feel that Vice President Gore has the ability and God given strengths that make him "the right man at the right time" to both help our glorious country out of the dire straights we find ourselves in now, as well as regain what was rightfully his in 2000. I sincerely believe that destiny is on Vice President Gore's side (as well as all the supporters on this forum) for 2008, and America will be the big winner when it is all said and done.
Mr. Vice President, you have this soldier's FULL support!

Great to have you on board! Thanks for your service. My family is filled with people who served in our military as republicans, and are now loyal democrats.

What a wonderful first posting, mustang! Welcome! It's hard to find oneself developing a feeling of disgust with one's own party. I've often felt that same feeling about the wimpy, Damn, Dumb, Dimocrats who are too chicken, too "CYA" to stand up for true Democratic party values. And that's why I love and admire Al Gore so much - he speaks truth to power, and so far, he's both prescient and correct.

I only wish that other Republicans would look past the patronizing flag-waving and fear-mongering to see how much Bush has harmed the armed forces - lack of planning, arming, funding, fighting a just war, or supporting those in the service or those who come home and need government services. I can't imagine how hard it must be to love and want to serve your country, and yet feel such disdain for the Commander-in-thief. As you you push the edges of the envelope of your political identity, that freedom from old constraints may make you feel a bit wobbly, but hold fast to the center of truth within yourself, and you'll be fine.

Blessings!

Thank you all for the warm welcome! Service, though, is a 2-way street. The thoughts, prayers and support from everyone is what makes it all possible. As the great hero Christopher Reeve said in Superman The Movie "Don't thank me...we're all part of the same team."
Its a good feeling to come to this forum and other forums for the Vice President and see and feel the rythms and heartbeat of the grass-roots support team that exist for Mr. Gore.
I feel with each passing day that that team heartbeat grows louder and louder, fueled by our drive towards this righteous cause, and fueled by ours and Vice President Gore's shared destiny of victory. As each day goes by it becomes more and more obvious to all that Vice President Gore's qualities and message are just what America needs, he is undoubtebly the right man for this time in our history.
I look forward to coming to and contributing more to this forum and our Gore team!
