Gore To Address Democrats Via Videoconferencing

By Larry Greenemeier, InformationWeek

Al Gore will be paying the Democratic National Committee's 4,500 delegates and alternatives a virtual visit Monday morning as they gather for breakfast in 23 hotels throughout Boston. The former Vice President will address them via a videoconference piped into 56 meeting areas, one for each of the convention's delegations.

Each delegation typically gathers for a breakfast meeting prior to the convention, at which convention officials provide delegates with information about convention activities and messages for the coming day.

Gore isn't the only Democratic heavyweight who'll be addressing delegates via videoconference. Throughout the week, they'll hear from convention chairman and New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson, convention chairwoman Alice Huffman, former Secretary of State Madeline Albright, and Mary Beth Cahill, the Kerry-Edwards campaign manager.

Very Cool!

When I read about things like this, I find it harder and harder to believe that Gore is some kind of pariah from whom the party leaders and Kerry are trying to distance themselves.

I think it's pretty loud and clear that the dem party leadership and Kerry both distanced themelves from Al Gore when Bush was stealing the 2000 election in Florida and when they then blocked him fom running for re-election this year. He clealy repaid them by magnificently telling them all off in his brilliant night time speech to the convention. "Bravo Mr. President!"
