That is unless this 76-year-old former United States senator is poised not to become the oldest person ever elected president, but just to talk about his issues in the campaign & keep Hillary and the rest of the field honest. Here are the issues Gravel will be raising in the campaign, according to Wikipedia:
"Gravel has said that, in addition to his stance on direct democracy, he will also be emphasizing his support for the FairTax plan and withdrawal from the war in Iraq during his campaign. Gravel is currently a resident of Arlington County, Virginia." So, Gravel is the first official anti-war candidate. Would the anti-war left coalesce around him? Too early to tell. And will this force other
serious prospective Democrats to announce early? That, I think is a certain 'no'.
