It was back when he and Clinton were first running. Then-Senator Gore gave fiery speech inside the gymnasium at East Carolina University...an event set up by the Young Democrats Club (of which I was a member). After the speech all the members of the Young Democrats gathered around to shake hands with Gore.

At first we thought he left...and he almost did...when he realized we were all waiting. He rushed back into the gym, apologized for the delay and shook all our hands.

I wish I could tell you I was real cool and said something intelligent to him. But I was kinda star-struck and goofy instead.

I'd have been totally tongue-tied . . . :P

LOL...yeah, that was me. I can't even remember what I said. Something along the lines of "Great speech" or something like that.

I'd probably have spilled my drink on him . . . :lol:
