"We care."

Not bad. Perhaps a little too soft, a little too touch-feely, but it makes the point.

ALGOREismylife - January 20, 2006 10:03 PM (GMT)
Well it's alot better than what the republicans stand for, 'We don't care.'

Not to get too carried away but here's some slogans i came up with,it may not be the best ones but eh here they are.

You (Meaning The People) Matter
The Constitution Matters
Constitution Over Corruption
Constitution Over Corporations
A Changed,Secured America
We Are United
People Over Party
Change Matters
Your Voice Matters

Here's mine, "The American Way". The Dems can argue that ever since George Bush & his cronies took office, they've been doing things the Republican way. From offering major tax breaks to the very wealthy & affluent, dragging the entire country into an unjust and unethical war, undermining the constituion and democracy in the country, bankrupting Social Security and Medicare, pilling up the national debt for our children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and finally, destroying the good name of American prestige.

Then the Dems will say "Because of the Republican Way, the odds are now stacked against us, the people of the United States. But fret not. If you elect us back in control of Congress, we will not do it the same, old Republican way or even the Democratic way, we will do it the American Way. Instead of offering tax breaks to the wealthy, we will offer tax relief to those who needed it the most: middle-class & lower-income Americans. Instead of backing George Bush on this unjust war in Iraq, we will offer a solution to stabilize the region, bring the troops home and once again glorify the good name of American prestige.

Instead of consistently breaking the law, we will hold George Bush & his cronies accountable, and if any major wrongdoing is shown, we will strongly consider to put Bush & Cheney on trial for the possible scenario of impeachment. Instead of putting Social Security and Medicare out of its misery, we will make it work again for the good of this country. Instead of not keeping an eye on unchecked and unneccessary spendings which will further worsen the national debt, we will serve as the eyes and ears of the American people when it comes to curbing irrevelent spendings. And that is the way we are going to govern. THE AMERICAN WAY. Where our solutions put America before the special interests. Where our solutions put America before ideology. And where our solutions put America before politics. So if you're exhausted of the 5-year Republican Way, vote for something new, vote for THE AMERICAN WAY."

How about "Keeping government out of your privacy."

You know, the Dems' problem with slogans has always been that it's so long that it is unable to fit onto a button. Here's one example: Stronger At Home, Respected in the World. Yap, that's the slogan for the Kerry-Edwards campaign back in 2004. But I don't think you see that on Kerry buttons, do you? Which is why they created another senseless slogan 'A Stronger America' which really doesn't say much about the Dems' message. So the solution? Keep it short, catchy & with meaning in it. Like 'LBJ for the USA' back in '64 or 'It's the economy, stupid!' back in '92.

Another problem is that the Dems do not have the habbit of staying on one slogan & running on that slogan. Numerous slogans were used for Kerry's campaign. From 'Stronger At Home, Respected in the World' to 'A Stronger America' to a lame 'America's Values' or something like that. The Dems should just stick with one message & run with it. Heck, that's what Bush did in 2000 with his fraud slogan of 'Compassionate Conservatism', and McCain's 'Straight Talk America'. And seriously, I think we can do better than 'America Can Do Better'.

Which is why I created 'The American Way' because I think it's a rather crisp & clear message. ap215's 'People Over Party', 'Change Matters', 'Your Voice Matters', 'You Matter' are actually good. But I think the most outstanding one is from EarthMother which is 'We Care', very crisp & extremely clear.

Go Al Go! I think you're right on. The American Way would be a perfect slogan because it implies that which is patently true that the "Republican Way" is un-American. By any measure, the Republicans value corporatism and elitism over the people or individuals.

This is what Republicans have been masterful at doing. Creating contrasts which cut against Democrats simply for being the opposite of what they want to do.

Democrats have got to do a better job of thinking out what they want to present and then staying the F_ _ _ on message!

Here's a few more slogans.

Caring For People
An Honest Government
Honest Leadership
Security For America

greyfox - January 22, 2006 06:43 PM (GMT)
"Keeping your liberty from erosion"

Again, I always love to take credit for good things, but "We Care" wasn't mine, GAG. That was what was on the link ap215 started this thread off with. :D
