The Call to Drive Out the Bush Regime
Sign the call now!

Your government, on the basis of outrageous lies, is waging a murderous and utterly illegitimate war in Iraq, with other countries in their sights.

Your government is openly torturing people, and justifying it.

Your government puts people in jail on the merest suspicion, refusing them lawyers, and either holding them indefinitely or deporting them in the dead of night.

Your government is moving each day closer to a theocracy, where a narrow and hateful brand of Christian fundamentalism will rule.

Your government suppresses the science that doesn't fit its religious, political and economic agenda, forcing present and future generations to pay a terrible price.

Your government is moving to deny women here, and all over the world, the right to birth control and abortion.

Your government enforces a culture of greed, bigotry, intolerance and ignorance.

People look at all this and think of Hitler — and they are right to do so. The Bush regime is setting out to radically remake society very quickly, in a fascist way, and for generations to come. We must act now; the future is in the balance.

This is the first I've heard of this, but did find this interesting article on impeachement for Bush and Cheney.

Urging action for impeachment

I sent this letter to Rep. Bernard Sanders on July 9:

"I sent you the first version of this letter about a year ago. In reply I received a non-responsive form letter about the situation in Iraq. Since that time the threat to the United States posed by the Bush administration has grown more grave, and we are faced with three and a half more disastrous years.

"I write to urge you to put before the House Judiciary Committee a motion to impeach George W. Bush and Richard Cheney on the following grounds:

They have conspired to endanger Americans at home and abroad by initiating and pursuing a war of aggression based on false premises.

In doing so they have cause the wrongful deaths of more than 1,700 American military personnel, approximately 250 American civilians, about 200 military personnel from other nations and possibly as many as 20,000 Iraqis.

They have conspired to compromise the Constitution of the United States of America by abridging many rights guaranteed to citizens and certain aliens.

They have unilaterally abrogated treaties and agreements to which the United States has long been a party, e.g. the Geneva Convention.

They have blatantly used their offices to provide favors to cronies, e.g. Halliburton.

They have severely damaged the reputation of the United States as a bastion of liberty and champion of human rights.

They have consistently lied about and/or obfuscated the truth surrounding many of their actions, both domestically and internationally, and in doing so:

Have failed to account for their actions to Congress, the rightful representatives of the American people.

"If these charges, which constitute treason by some definitions, cannot be shown to constitute 'high crimes and misdemeanors,' then I believe the American people are facing the greatest challenge to their freedom since the Revolution.

"The Bush administration poses a clear and present danger to the safety of the American people and to the constitutional health of the nation. Only congressional action can stop them from riding roughshod over the freedoms we all cherish. I urge you to act now.

"Please give serious consideration to this matter. I would appreciate receiving a response from someone higher in your organization than those who send out form letters, letting me know that this letter has actually reached your desk."

To date (Oct. 26) I have received no reply. Since July we have witnessed the incompetence of the federal emergency response system, an insult to the federal judiciary with the nomination of Harriet Miers, clear malfeasance if not outright criminal activity on the part of senior administration officials, and the 2,000th American military death in Iraq.

I hope that by putting this letter into a public medium it will attract Mr. Sanders' attention. Where are you, Bernie?

RICHARD L. BROWN

That was my point, AGIML. Since no one seems to know anything about it, and apparently the media aren't going to cover any of these demonstrations, it amounts to nothing. Zip. In fact, it's better to not even have things like this if the turn-out is going to be low. It makes it look as if no one supports the cause, when in reality, millions do.

Well we know the damn media is in Bush's pocket and has been since before stolen election 2000, so of course they will cover up whatever they can to protect the criminal thief. It's so frustrating, because if anything George W. Bush and Dick Cheney both deserved to be impeached and I believe millions feel this way.

I heard a minute's worth about a rally in Portland today on an Oregon Community radio station. They said about 300 people showed up, although it should have been more, considering how awful the weather as been, that's better than nothing. Still trying to find out more.

If any of you out there have any information on a rally or demonstraton that took place in your city or state please post it and share it with the rest of us. :)

Anti-Bush Protesters March In Manhattan
Thousands Of Students Mobilize

(CBS) NEW YORK Thousands of protesters mobilized in Manhattan Wednesday to rally against polices of the Bush administration. The group “The World Can’t Wait” organized the peaceful march of mostly high school students, who walked from Union Square to Times Square in Manhattan.

Marchers chanted, “Join us, join us, the world can’t wait. Drive out the Bush regime.”

Elected officials Deborah Glick, Margarita Lopez and Tom Duane reportedly attended the event. The organization also reported that among the protesters, 70 students from high schools on Long Island received 3-day suspensions for leaving school to participate in the march. Other students from area high schools reportedly received similar treatment.

New York City Police Department officers monitored the peaceful march.

Similar marches were held on Wednesday in Washington, D.C., Atlanta, Chicago and Berkeley, Calif.
