Title: Ross Perot

I've been reading about him lately, and must say he would have made an excellent President. I agree with him on almost every issue. What do you guys think of Ross Perot?

I know Ross Perot is a 75 year old billionaire, born in Texas and was a presidential candidate in I believe 1992 and 1996. Not someone I would really trust as president. NO MORE RICH TEXANS.

I don't think it's good to stereotype like that... Take each person as who they are.

You are missing my point. This country definitely needs a President from somewhere other than TEXAS. Enough is enough, eight years of the lying fraud George W. Bush and fours years of his daddy, I'm sorry but I'm sick of corrupt Texans running the show and destroying this country with their White Supremacist and out for the rich attitudes.

Can ah finish, can ah finish, can ah finish . . .

Well, if you're too young to remember Perot in person, you're too young to get that. He was a character. He had some good (albeit half-baked ideas). I don't think he would have been a very good president. Too simplistic. One good example: He wanted some sort of device in every person's kitchen throughout America that would enable each person to vote from home . . . on every issue that came up before Congress. Uh uh.

Again, you two are making bad generalizations... Here's some of his beliefs.

-pro choice

-help small businesses

-anti affirmative action

-anti outsourcing/offshoring

-big spending on schools doesn't produce better results

-pro environment

-pro gun control

Those are just some of his stances. I agree with many more he has... Gore is the only person I would prefer as President than Perot come to think of it...

If you remember my first post, I stated that Ross Perot is 75 years old, so I doubt he will ever run again.

Yes he has some good belief and views, which I admit, do agree with, but I'm am so sick of this country becoming the UNITED STATES of TEXAS. Everything, not just politics is TEXAS, TEXAS, TEXAS. Lance Armstrong wins the Tour de France every year. The damn San Antonio Spurs have won too many times. I could go on about Texas sports teams but I'll leave it alone. It's like this, God, give me a break from TEXAS this and TEXAS that. There are 49 other states in this country.

GF, you are against affirmative action?

greyfox - August 29, 2005 01:13 AM (GMT)
It's something I "flip flop" on... I was originally against it, then I was for it, and now I'm against it again. It's reverse discrimation. I have white friends who are poor and when they hear about AA, all they can say is "What about us poor white kids?" Read the book Paved With Good Intentions. It's an eye opener at the least.

Race should not determine who gets a job or into a college. Qualifications should, and Paved with Good Intentions talks about that.

Psst . . . dirty little secret: I'm no fan of affirmative action either.

I videotaped the Gore/Perot Nafta debate, basically Al cleaned his clock. It came out in the debate that Perot had his own private little Nafta in Texas and did not want the rest of the country in on the action. That debate on Larry King Live was a watershed moment for Perot, he was never the same politcal force after it, that he had been prior. If it had been a boxing match, it would have been called after a just a few minutes. He originally had a great message in the way that the federal budget deficit was being exploded by both parties. Unfortunately it seems the message of responsible govt. spending has went the way of the dodo bird.

Uncle Joe, could you upload the video onto your comp and post it?

Greyfox, I wish I could, however the VHS tape is so decrepit that I cannot get it to play on my television anymore, I think it desolved. :( I will try it again when I get home tonight.
