Title: A Right-Winger's Fantasy Land
Description: "Pat's" Assesment of "The Left"

Garden Stater - July 26, 2005 10:11 AM (GMT)
I was "surfing" the net and came across a blog, and came across this comment by a blogger named "Pat" on Trey Jackson's Type Pad

The psychology of the left is really interesting. I have a theory that the hatred for Bush, both by liberal (I hate using that word since it's been so twisted) Dems, and the MSM, is because he is proven right so often. Starting with the result in Florida, and continuing through the war in Iraq. It literally drives them crazy. He says he won in FL, starts preparing to take office, courts back him up, and recounts conducted by various organizations later prove he was right. The left NEVER acknowledges this. THEY said he lost. They HATE him. He says that the best weapon against terrorism is freedom and Democracy, so, for a huge variety of reasons (all of which the Dems agreed with in 1998 when they were calling for regime change to be the official US policy toward Iraq) we go in and overthrow a tyrant with many ties to terrorists (now indisputable--though, again, the left was wrong so they can't admit it, and they just hate Bush more for it). Aside from a democracy in Iraq and a democracy in Afghanistan (which is the bigger miracle I'll leave to you to decide), we start seeing the Arab world hungering for freedom and democracy and the opportunities that accompany them. Bush is right again. The left and MSM are wrong again. They HATE Bush for it. You have to feel bad for them (or maybe not) because they're missing opportunities for joy and celebration and to make the kind of positive changes in the world that Democratic leaders of the past would've warmly embraced. Ah well...

On top of that there is an incredible abundance of projection. They really do personal attacks, so when they hear any argument, they assume the other side is also attacking them personally. "If you disagree with me, you're attacking me personally." Remember the hue and cry over the whole claim that people were being declared unpatriotic and stifled by the Republicans... at the same time that Al Gore was screaming that George Bush "betrayed" his country (oddly enough, by doing exactly what Al Gore wanted to do in 1998). I get a huge kick out of people who can stand on any street corner and yell at the top of their lungs "My first amendment rights are being suppressed" with no reprisals. They miss the point that their very ability to make the statement renders it false.

It's all very interesting to me. And kind of sad. I can't believe that either Jack or Bobby Kennedy would be proud, or that Rev. King would be proud, or that FDR or Truman would be proud. As another republican who is a recovering democrat, due in large part to the inability of the Democratic party (and liberal mentality) to deal with reality, it truly amazes me that they can make such insane statements and believe them.

[rant] All I could think, is, for such a seemingly nice person, this person has almost no grapple on reality whatsover. Where does he come up with this stuff? Instead of addressing the real problems of the world, all he does is "focus on the left, blame the left, the left is wrong". I mean it seems to be all projection, and oh my goodness, I can't believe he said Dr.King would look upon the Bush Administration's actions more favorably than the peace activists who are out there everydday protesting and searching for the truth trying to make this world a little safer for all of us. My goodness what is this guy's deal! [/rant]
