WASHINGTON (Reuters) -- Unlucky in presidential politics, Rep. Dennis Kucinich, D-Ohio, has found romance and plans to get married this summer to a British citizen.
When he was campaigning to be the Democrat's choice for president in 2004, the twice-divorced Kucinich, 58, made headlines when he rued the fact he had not found time for matchmaking. He finished far back in the pack of Democrats seeking to challenge President Bush.
A Web site (http://www.politicsnh.com) held a national contest to find a wife for the Ohio congressman and scores of women sent in essays and photos asking to meet him.
The congressman's spokesman, Doug Gordon, declined for privacy reasons to say where Kucinich met his future bride, but said it was not on the Internet.
"The congressman is a very happy man right now. They are looking forward to their wedding and a very happy life together," Gordon said.
The bride-to-be is Elizabeth Harper, who works for a monetary policy think-tank in Chicago, Illinois, Gordon said. The couple is expected to marry in the Cleveland, Ohio, area this summer.
