And later, throughout the establishment press, this distaste was neatly transferred to Clinton’s anointed successor, Al Gore—which brings us to the worst single hour Russert has ever performed on TV.

Thanks Uncle Joe,

Good post to find and share.

I am concerned on a little bit of a different note with Tim Russert's show.

I'm guessing you have seen the BBC presentation, " The Power of Nightmares."

One point the BBC presentation does a good job on is- how the Bush

administration uses fear to push it's agenda, 'Mushroom Cloud...'

On one of Tim's recent shows, they debated the 'nuclear threat'

that America now faces- I hate to say it, but I thought it was a joke...

Tim should have just rolled tape on a bomb going off in America,

Over, and over, and over, and over, and over - with big red scrolling

words- " FEAR! FEAR! FEAR! FEAR! "

Bums me out to see Tim push it.

Thanks Josh, I did not see the program you referred to, however they are correct in that fear is the primary tool in the Bush Administration's toolbox. Whenever I think of Bush's style or M.O. I recall the old television classic "Christmas Carol" with Scrooge, Tiny Tim and the rest. In one particular scene when the Ghost of Christmas past or present (I don't remember which) opens his robe to reveal two orphaned waifs that he warned Scrooge to be aware of " the boy is ignorance and the girl is fear beware them both but especially the boy". The Bush Administration wants to keep the American People afraid, whereas FDR thought that the only thing we needed to fear was fear itself, Bush's philosophy is be fearful. Bush is aided by his corporate owned media prostitutes such as Russert who help in keeping the American People ignorant with their lies and half truths. The American People will have to dig in deep within them-selves to overcome this war of fear and ignorance put upon them by the Bush Administration and the media monopolies.

I completely agree, very well said Uncle Joe!

Wow! You MUST see the BBC presentation.

MSNBC, CNN, FOX, etc. none of them will even touch it.

Here's a link to the news about it:

" Should we be worried about the threat from organized terrorism or is it simply a phantom menace being used to stop society from falling apart?

In the past our politicians offered us dreams of a better world. Now they promise to protect us from nightmares.

The most frightening of these is the threat of an international terror network. But just as the dreams were not true, neither are these nightmares.

In a new series, the Power of Nightmares explores how the idea that we are threatened by a hidden and organized terrorist network is an illusion. "

I'll see if I can hunt down the links to the actual videos, -the web versions are

not high quality, but they work ( I managed to grab the HUGE downloads of the

video's, each one = ~ 600 MB file size ). If you want the huge downloads,

I'll post 'em up :D

Thanks Uncle Joe!

Thank You Josh, and that is an excellent post you put up :good: , too bad I don't have BBC television. It is amazing isn't it? we live in the greatest "Superpower" in world history and we have to go back to the country that we fought our war of independence with, just to find out what is going on. :(

Thanks Uncle Joe :) !

Stunning that this BBC presentation seems to be so 'feared' by

CNN, FOX, etc.

Here are some video links, -these are not the 'HUGE' files,

but they will cover parts of the presentation:

The Power of Nightmares 6meg -'Save Target' of this if you can, since it will probably download and play faster.

The Power of Nightmares 2 30 meg

These smaller video parts have been scattered all over the net, - more Google

searching will help, but here is the link that I started with;

NEWS YOU WON'T FIND ON CNN

A large download version might be here at this 'torrent':

The Blog of Donncha O Caoimh

If you are familiar with 'Torrents' -then it's pretty easy to find.

( anyone else find some video download links to this BBC Presentation ?

Thanks in advance! :) )

Thanks Uncle Joe!

Thanks again Josh, You are the best. As we are on the subject of the media's War against Gore here is another little tidbit from the Daily Howler.

Why didn’t Clinton achieve more in the end? And oh yeah, another point: Why didn’t Clinton get to “pass the baton” to his anointed successor, Al Gore? Cohen gives us three basic choices: “Blame it on Clinton, blame it on Starr or just blame the times,” he says. But when it comes to the matter of Gore, how about blaming a different “times”—the one which is spelled with a capital T? And how about blaming the Washington Post? Why wasn’t Gore elected? Predictably, Cohen omits the obvious choice: Blame it on a Washington press corps which had lost its mind by the time of Clinton’s impeachment, then directed its fury at Gore. Cohen doesn’t provide this choice for an obvious reason. As we told you yesterday, it’s Hard Pundit Law: This cohort never tells you the truth about its own conduct and culture.
Why didn’t Clinton “pass the baton?” The history there is perfectly clear. By the fall of 1998, the insider press corps was deeply opposed to their sitting, vile president. Indeed, Sally Quinn made this fact quite clear in that essential November 1998 report (see THE DAILY HOWLER, 6/3/05). And five months later, when Clinton’s successor began his run for the White House, that cohort landed on his head like a gang of Salem-era harpies. By the fall of 1999, Cohen himself was writing inane, embarrassing columns about Gore’s troubling, funny clothes and about his disturbing adviser, Naomi Wolf. This had nothing to do with Ken Starr. It had something to do with Richard Cohen.
For any liberal who wants to explain the course of the past ten years, that piece by Quinn is monumentally important. In great detail, she described an insider press elite which had come to despise a sitting president. They took it over five months later on Gore. Everyone in Washington knows this. But they also know their cohort’s Hard Law: They must lie, right in your face, about their actual conduct.
