Title: My Day With Al and Tipper
Description: Opening of Gore Research Center

GSC Admin - April 16, 2005 03:56 AM (GMT)
Hey guys, today my father, mother, and myself attended the opening of the Gore Research Center here in Tennessee. The crowd was a small close crowd (Old friends, new friends, family) and it was a pretty short program. Al and Tipper got there on time and went around and talked with the people they knew before hand. Al saw me with Rodney (Blueraider) and he told us he would be with us in a second. Soon thereafter Al made his way over to us. I talked to him about 5 minutes or so about various things which was way cool. I also introduced him to my mother, whom he complemeted, and my father. Al also was very interested in our very small digital video camera. He is truly a techy as I am!

During the program Al gave about a ten minute speech about his father and about the truth and how he thinks it will rise again. It was a very good speech. He reminiced about his father and worked it well into making a point. Also as usual, he didn't use any notes; it was all from the heart.

Finally after the program, I went back up to tell Al bye and thank him again. He was so nice all day to me and my family! Then for the first time in two and a half years I met and talked with the First Lady; Tipper. I came up to her and introduced myself. I told her how much I and everyone on her loved her, her family and wished them all the best. I also hugged her. She was so sweet and caring. She is such a sweetheart; just as you would expect she would be. Also, she was gorgeous as ever!

All in all, it was a great day. I had a great time visiting the research center and learning about Al Gore Sr. I also had a great time talking to the President, First Lady, Josh, Rodney, President McPhee, Faye Johnson, and many others! This will be yet another great memory to think about in the future!

(PS: I got some great video on my small digital video camera today that I may post either in video form today or I may post some screen captures.)

(And maybe I WILL soon!) :D Anyway Chris, Al has more than a slight interest in you digi-cam...just think Chris...when AL gets finished with the synthesis of CURRENT then anyone with a GOOD cam can be a PRODUCER!...Also just THINK of it Chris! YOUR WEBSITE ON CURRENT!....That sly ol' LPOTUS of ours has been busy working for us building a Network where ANYONE can report the TRUTH from ANYWHERE!...Even the Fat Boy at EIB is "scared"...I SAY AL GORE ROCKS! Plus Al wants to get NEt sources involved! The "synergy" of the WEB---CURRENT---and AIR AMERICA will allow US to get OUR voices HEARD! VIVA AL GORE! :good:

I know I have been out lately but I have had some physical problems with pain along with trying to help keep my family above water...but things are improving! Keep up the GOOD work! ;)

Hi everyone! I haven't really been away, just resting and coming here to read from time to time. Just had to comment here and express my congratulations on this wonderful research center and efforts that will abound within it. I am so very proud to be following this amazing leader and his family and friends. Al Gore's beliefs and efforts are consistently praise-worthy. Please tell us more about this Research Center Chris. Thanks for sharing your experiences with him too. Blueraider is also someone I respect and know that he will make a huge positive difference for our country once he gets his college credentials behind him which will be happening soon. Great people know and respect Al Gore's mind. Thank God there are truly strong individuals who strive to make this world a better place through intelligence and love, and do not get caught up in their own glory. Respect is earned. /Julia

Hey, Julia's back! Howdy, Cowgirl!

And Chris, what an exciting day this must've been for you. I can't imagine actually talking to Al and hugging Tipper. It must've been incredible. I hope you'll post some stills or better yet, the whole video.

Can you explain more about what the Gore Research Center is?

Julia - April 16, 2005 05:23 PM (GMT)
Earthmomma: God knows I loveya, there is no coming back, as I have never left, just not spoken for a while. But Chris, do tell us more, bout this research center...

ALGOREismylife - April 16, 2005 06:40 PM (GMT)
AWESOME, you must be truly blessed, Chris, to have PRESIDENT AL GORE in your life as your mentor and friend. I'm sure this will be another beautiful memory you will have for the rest of your life. :good:

If you have any questions about the photos, feel free to ask!

ALGOREismylife - April 17, 2005 01:40 AM (GMT)
Awesome photos and AL is looking great. He looks happy and healthy. :good:

earthmother - April 17, 2005 01:50 AM (GMT)
Boy, he sure is looking at you intently, Chris. I like that he's really listening to you, not just acting like he's paying attention when he's really not.

Definitely a day for you to remember, and great that you've got all these photos of it.

ErinB - April 17, 2005 02:58 AM (GMT)
Wow! What a great experience, Chris. Good photos too. Are they taken from freeze frames from a video? Neat.

I don't wanna sound out of touch, because I'm not sure if this is old news, but did Tipper dye her hair brown?

earthmother - April 17, 2005 03:02 AM (GMT)
No, she's still blond in these pictures. I believe you're looking at someone that Gore is greeting who isn't Tipper.

greyfox - April 17, 2005 03:26 AM (GMT)
Another question if you don't mind: what is that stack of papers you handed Gore?

GSC Admin - April 17, 2005 03:48 AM (GMT)
Thanks guys. Yes they are freeze frames from my very small video camera. As you could see in the one very up close one of Al, he was interested in it.

I wish I had some of me with Tipper, but my dad had already left so no one was shooting then.

Also, the papers I had given him was my report on Global Climate Change that I had done for my Scientific Research Class. He was very interested as you can see by the photos. Al and Tipper both are top of the line people.

Thanks!

GSC Admin - April 17, 2005 03:51 AM (GMT)
Are you seeing the woman in the photos with Al and me laughing? If so that is my mother. We all had a big laugh together when Al complemented her.

Garden Stater - April 17, 2005 04:00 AM (GMT)
Very Cool Chris! I love th pictures! :good:

The Paraclete - April 17, 2005 06:33 AM (GMT)
Excellent pics Chris...went to the center on-line and read about Albert Gore Sr....we NEED more folks like Al Gore Sr., and Al Gore Jr. back in office helping the "little guy".... :Y: :good:

Thanks for the answers! Lucky man how you not only get to see Gore in person, but share your work with him. I never will because I live in New York.

I wouldn't give up, it seems like AL still makes trips to NY for speeches and if he runs in 2008, he no doubt will make plenty. I live in a state where he seldom visits.

Well, hopefully in '07 when hopefully the campaign will be underway... :)

greyfox - April 18, 2005 12:07 AM (GMT)
Gore doesn't need to campaign in NY. It's a dem stronghold.

earthmother - April 18, 2005 12:12 AM (GMT)
It's interesting you say that, greyfox. I saw a Marist poll today (www.maristpoll.marist.edu) that said that 51% of registered voters in New York State don't want Hillary to run, and only 44% do. Either that means NYS is not such a Dem stronghold, or Hillary isn't as popular as many would like to believe. I mean, if she can't win in New York State, where is she going to win?

greyfox - April 18, 2005 12:18 AM (GMT)
In a general election, I'm sure almost any democrat would win NY. Hell, even Dukakis did. The past few elections dems have won comfortably with 60% of the vote. However, I didn't realised that Gore could possibly campaign in NY for the primaries.

As for Hillary... she's hated around here. The general consesus is that somebody needs to rubberstamp the word "bitch" on her forehead. Not my choice of words, but I don't like her myself.

I never quite used the word 'bitch' but I have often called her PRISSY. :)

earthmother - April 18, 2005 12:31 AM (GMT)
I've never quite understood why she's so hated by so many people. Personally, I think she's an extremely intelligent and competent woman. I just don't happen to agree with her politics, and I think she's more than just a little bit of a panderer (in other words, a good politician, like her hubby). But that doesn't make me despise her the way so many people do. I don't think she's a bitch. I think she's shrewd, but I don't think she's a bitch. Maybe people are just threatened by a powerful, competent woman?

GSC Admin - April 18, 2005 12:36 AM (GMT)
On a side note, what was wrong with Dukakis? He was an extremely competent man who would have made a good President.

GSC Admin - April 18, 2005 12:40 AM (GMT)
Gore actually made several stops in New York and Jersey in 2000. Plus a few years while considering 2004...he appeared on Hardball from a NY University.

Well, my neighbor's friend worked on Hillary's 2000 campaign and returned with this story... Hillary was a great lady to her while they were on the campaign trail, but then after she was elected, my neighbor's friend saw her and Hillary just looked away and gave her the cold shoulder. That story didn't sit well with me.

I just don't like her... I don't like where she stands on the issues, and I don't like her personality. She supported the war, she supported the Patriot Act, and she hasn't done a damn thing for the state of NY. Of course I support her senate seat, as she's better than your average republican, but I just do not like her.

These are among the reasons I don't like her also. As for her personality, I don't know anything first-hand about that. I imagine she's probably a bit headstrong, and I think she's probably very good at getting what she wants. But those are just impressions.

I do have a lot of respect for her for handling the Lewinsky thing the way she did. I think it was right for her to actively remain First Lady, to not drag the country any deeper into the whole stupid thing than we already were, and to handle her problems with Bill privately. She showed public dignity and grace in that situation, and I respect her for that.
