http://www.dailykos.com/story/2005/4/10/112317/193 I'll be damned if Karl Rove and the republicans dare to steal elections in MY city. This Is BullSh*t!

I wouldn't be surprised if they try to put those Diebold machines in every state, but for now my state is mail-in ballots. But for how long???? :?:

I live about 20 minutes from Albany. I'll prolly be doing some protesting at the capital building this week if I can get enough people together.

On second thought, why the hell do I have to defend my states' people's right to vote? Isn't that the elected officials' job?
Regardless, I printed out all the stuff I need for calling in. Should I record the conversations?

Nowhere in the article does it say that NYS is installing Diebold Machines as your headline claims. What are we now the FAUX News of the internet.

I think in this case it's appropriate to have such a title. I may have passed this thread by if it didn't have such a "shocker."

Ok james maybe i overstepped it a little. I should've put down NYS MAY install Diebold machines in 2 weeks. But this is a big issue and hopefully they'll be stopped in time before they put this to a vote.

One last thing about this story,i first heard this late december/early january when i saw an article on another board i thought it was a rumor myself but it wasn't.
And these machines were supposed installed on election day last november, but the state signed waiver papers to keep the pull-level machines and decided to wait until 2006 to install these machines on election day next year.

It doesn't say they will be installed in 2 weeks, but that lobbyists will try to pass legislation to get them installed in 2 weeks.
That's a pretty scary prospect in my opinion. Can anyone who lives outside New York help too? Or will they only pay attention to ppl in New York?

That's not a bad idea Garden, that would be cool if people outside of NYC can help us out on this. Thanks GS. :good:

I've called a couple on the list. I just got yelled at by one of the people because "I'm not in her district."

I have an idea, I don't know how feasable it is but here goes, we start a boycott of any company that refuses to put a paper trail on their voting machines. Diebold is the company that most easily comes to mind, although there may be others. I would suggest we start a movement to quit using all the anytime teller machines that Diebold operates until they start treating our Democracy with as much importance as they give their money.
