Title: LOL! Take A Look At This--VOTE IN GORE POLL

http://www.calculusman.com/DemBracket/ Someone came up with a NCAA-type tournament bracket to see who should be the 2008 Dem nominee. Nice.

That's awesome and I love how they list AL GORE NO. 1 in the South bracket. Where did you ever find that, ap215 ???

Love it.

I don't know if putting Gore in the Southern category is really appropriate. East would prolly be better, being that most people remember him from DC, instead of TN.

GSC Admin - April 4, 2005 02:19 AM (GMT)
Al Gore has lived in Tennesse his who life minus the years he was serving our state. Even currently he is living here. He is from the south; but not a prototypical redneck moderate.

greyfox - April 4, 2005 03:16 AM (GMT)
Most people now view him though as a DC insider after being VP for 8 years. He didn't win at all in the South in 2000 because of it. Had it not been for Nader though, results could've been otherwise.

GSC Admin - April 4, 2005 03:33 AM (GMT)
Well it is apparent that Nader is a liar and would say anything to hurt Gore in 2000. However, I am willing to bet that Gore lost the south not because of being a "DC Insider" but rather racist, homophobic, gun carrying hypocrites.

That's right. Democrats can't win in the South now because it's been taken over by the religious right. This is a problem that's going to have to be addressed if we're to win back the White House.

Also, it says voting in this poll will start April 10th. We should launch a mass effort here to get Al to come out on top.

Earthmother- what do you think our srategy for the South with Gore should be?

If I knew the answer to that, I'd be some big-wig in someone's campaign, wouldn't I?

greyfox - April 4, 2005 07:55 PM (GMT)
I don't think we even need the South to win. Check this out.

Very sad how our government and corporations pick the president instead of the people. Kerry actually won Nevada, Ohio, Iowa, and New Mexico. If he could, I know Gore could. But what do we do to get rid of the Diebolds?

He was born in D.C., and attended school there in his early years, I don't think many people know that, but he has spent most of his adult life living in Tennessee.

As far as the racist South goes, I feel if there is one man who can get through to racists and bigots, it would be AL GORE. :good:

April 10th is this coming Sunday, so yes everybody let's make sure we all vote for AL and show our support. :)

I guess I read that wrong, the voting for AL'S bracket isn't until April 16th and 17th.

earthmother - April 5, 2005 06:08 PM (GMT)
I read that the voting started April 10th. Are they having different days for the different brackets?

It's two days for each bracket starting with the 10th and 11th for the east bracket. And I'm sure the south bracket where AL is, is the 16th and 17th of April. It's listed somewhere on there. I'll look at it again.

There is an entire schedule listed and I guess the whole thing will go on all month. GO AL. :)

earthmother - April 5, 2005 07:10 PM (GMT)
We'll have to work hard to make him win. Does someone want to post this info at AG-08 and PFG so they'll be in on it, too? Well, AGIML, you and I won't be able to post at PFG, but someone else could. Maybe Erin. Any takers for AG-08?

greyfox - April 5, 2005 07:34 PM (GMT)
Posting it on algore08 would be a good idea EM. :)

earthmother - April 5, 2005 07:36 PM (GMT)
Well, any volunteers? I make myself pretty scarce over there these days.

Uncle Joe - April 5, 2005 07:49 PM (GMT)
I believe that Al Gore could win even without the South, all he needed was New Hampshire in 2000 but Nader hurt him especially hard there taking away much needed votes in a tight race. Having said that however why would anyone running for President want to write off a third to forty percent of the country? This would be the same as going in to a boxing ring with one hand tied behind your back. I believe that the Democratic Party in general and Al Gore in particular can win in the South but the party is going to have to change some of it's rhetoric, while it may feel good to refer to it as the "racist south" all this kind of language does is alienate most Southerners be they racist or not. You cannot treat the South like a (excuse the language) red headed step child and expect it to be warm and fuzzy to you during the elections.

ALGOREismylife - April 6, 2005 01:48 AM (GMT)
I found something in those brackets I thought alittle humorous, I know in the NCAA basketball, some teams get put in strange brackets, but as I again looked over the SOUTH brackect, where AL is, I noticed, NO. 11, T. Kulongoski, I don't think so, he's the Democratic Governor of my state, Oregon. West Coast, not South. :?: Oh, Well.

ALGOREismylife - April 10, 2005 06:22 PM (GMT)
The voting has started in the EAST bracket if anyone is interested.

earthmother - April 10, 2005 06:55 PM (GMT)
Thanks for the notification.

We could try to load up the votes on someone we think wouldn't win against Gore.

But that would be unethical.

I'm just going to wait until I can vote for Gore.

Keep us posted. I already forgot about this.

earthmother - April 10, 2005 06:59 PM (GMT)
Boy, is that poll crooked! I just went to check it out and they have Hillary paired against Zell Miller. Yeah, right, like she's not gonna win, then. Was this poll put together by the Hillary people?

I never thought of that, but did vote against Hillary and Lieberman for other reasons.

But I think AL will win this all the way, if we can get everyone here to vote. :good:

I thought this would be kind of fun, when I first seen it, of course I want AL GORE to win it.

I just hoped it's not rigged, there's enough of that going on. Even if it's just for fun, it would be a nice change if it was done fairly. :?:

I don't know that it's rigged per se, but if they're going to do things like pairing Hillary against Zell Miller, something tells me they might just set things up so Hillary has the best chance of winning.

ALGOREismylife - April 10, 2005 11:34 PM (GMT)
Well, I just looked again at the SOUTH bracket where AL is, not much competition so it should be a stomp for AL. :)

I believe voting for AL'S bracket will be APRIL 16th, let's vote. GO AL. :good:

greyfox - April 11, 2005 12:03 AM (GMT)
Are there gonna be paper trails of the votes?

Not if Diebold has anything to do with it. <_<

ALGOREismylife - April 12, 2005 05:18 PM (GMT)
The NORTH bracket voting is today and April 13th if anyone is interested, I know this poll probably doesn't mean much, but hope it is done without rigging, like I said. Just a reminder, don't forget to vote for AL on the 16th or 17th.

earthmother - April 12, 2005 06:40 PM (GMT)
Well, I voted in this bracket, too, after voting in the east bracket the other day (against Hillary), and it's set up to favor certain people same as the east bracket was set up to favor Hillary. In this bracket, they've matched the heavyweights like John Kerry and Wes Clark with people no one has heard of (at least I hadn't). Also, why was Ted Kennedy put in the east bracket, but John Kerry is in the north bracket? This whole thing is very poorly done, and IMO, it's set up to yield certain desired winners. I can't wait to see who they pair Gore with.

I've posted the link again below to make it easier for people to go to.

I definately agree. It's all the big names VS all the no names. Either way, we'll make sure Al wins! :good:

Really though, what's with Obama on the South bracket? Since when is Illinois considered the South?

AL GORE is up against J. Bingaman, obviously no competition there unless it really is rigged. :?:

Oh, greyfox, you mention Obama in SOUTH bracket, well so is my governor and I live in Oregon. Go figure that one. :)

greyfox - April 13, 2005 01:51 AM (GMT)
Oregon? South? lmao... they really set this thing up so the big names could win, huh?

Hey, FleetAdmiral, thanks for that info! It was very enlightening. It was also encouraging to read that he considers Al Gore to be one of the top four contenders.

So, group, let's stay up on this and be sure we make Al win!
