Title: Is America still a DEMOCRACY?
Description: Question for a Friday Nite?

FreeBird - March 11, 2005 11:22 PM (GMT)
Here's some "food for thought" on this Friday Evening. Is AMERICA still a TRUE DEMOCRACY??? :?: Or has AMERICA "sold their soul to the devil" :?: If it has...........are ALL AMERICANS to pay the price?

Has GREED and MONEY combined with POLITICS corrupted the "heart and soul" of our GREAT COUNTRY?

What is a LIFE worth now in AMERICA?

Does it depend on how much money you have?

It's SAD TO SAY but I am beginning to wonder! :(

Any opinions?

Have a peacefull weekend.............Andrew Pauluser posted image

I have felt for years everything in this country favors the RICHEST of the RICH, and the EVILIST of the EVIL. Think about it, the Bush family is both rich and evil, so what does that tell you????

We all know GREED and down with the poor is what republicans do best along with racism and oppressing people and starting unjust wars. Hypocrite Bible-Thumpers boil my blood. They have no concern for the average American, no surprise there. I said it before, I despise Bush, his evil RICH cronies as well as deceived, control freak Bush Worshipping Thugs{BWT}.

Yes they are destroying this country. :(

Bush no doubt wants:

The RICH to become richer.
The middle class to become poor,
and the poor to die. :bad:

What a mess. :?:

It's a CANCER that needs to be REMOVED or else................. :o :o :o

We need PRESIDENT AL GORE and we need him NOW. He is the only one that gives me hope for the future, I sure as hell don't trust anyone else to repair the damage done to the country by the FRAUD Administration.

AL GORE shouldn't have this mess all dumped on him, but he is by far the most qualified man to clean up this big MESS, I don't see anyone else that can even come close. :?:

Sad to say it, but I don't think our country is still a Democracy (well, techinically we're a Democratic-Republic,but that's not what I mean). I think 3 major things contribute to the lack of a democracy in this country, money, an inactive media, and election fraud/voter suppression.

The stake corporations and money have in what politicians do, outweighs the will of the people. That's why Ted Kennedy's minimum wage bill didn't pass, and that's why the bankruptcy bill is going to pass (if it hasn't already).

The media is broken. It ignores important stories, and reports stories that're either fluff, or don't have any effect on anyone who's watching it. There's no fact checking, and I wish the phrase "investigative reporting" wasn't something bound to a wishlist. That's just the incompetence of it, the purposeful part of it, is how political and corporate forces have a hand in what the media can report and what it can't. General Electric shouldn't have a stake in how their Depleted Uranium Missiles are reported, or more accurately, aren't reported at all. I doubt so many people would be voting against their own interests and philosophies if the media just did its job.

And fraud. I think we all agree that Florida was stolen by Bush in 2000, and right-wingers who can't agree to that have to at least admit that Al Gore got more votes. But back to Florida 56 (or 58 I don't remember) thousand people (mostly if not all African American) were scrubbed from voter rolls in Florida. The "official" difference there was 527 votes. That shouldn't have happened. And, I don't know if anyone agrees with me on this, if you don't fine, it's over anyway, but I believe 2004 was stolen too. Just like the exit polls that showed Gore winning in 2000, exit polls showed Kerry winning in 2004. Exit polls are the golden standard in 3rd world countries to make sure dictators don't rise to power by stealing elections, and it's how people were sure that Yucshenko (probably spelled it wrong) won. Beyond just exit polls, Congressmand John Conyers put together 900 pages of evidence showing that George Bush stole Ohio, and I'm sure if anyone cared, someone would've been able to do the same for Florida. There were numerous accounts of people pressing "Kerry" on the electronic voting machines, and getting Bush, but no accounts of people voting for Bush and getting Kerry. I guess it's just a coincidence that that happened with machines made by a company that actively campaigned for Bush. But I guess the worlds conflict-of-interest just don't exist in the english language anymore. Let's just all turn the blinders on, close our eyes and "stop whining". Yeah, wanting a better country is whining. How dare we demand something better for our country, or demand that politicians have the interests of the people at heart instead of corporations - how dare we have the gall to want more than the status quo!

As far as the "Let's not hate Bush comment" I said that, but let me clarify it. I didn't say "we shouldn't hate Bush" :) (I don't like telling other people what to do or how to feel) :) Here's what a radio talk show host, Thom Hartmann once said, he said that the word, or feeling of hate is up there with greed and envy, that it's such an ugly emotion, that we should try to stay above "hate" because so many problems come out of that, as they do come out of envy and greed. I added though, that I like radio talk show host Mike Malloy just as much as I do Thom Hartmann, and he never goes a night without saying "have I mentioned tonight how much I hate these people?" :) I'd never tell anyone else how to feel though, people come to their own conclusions and feelings their own ways. And there's no way I can blame someone for saying that they hate the kinds of things Bush stands for. To describe my own feelings though, I wouldn't use the word hate, but don't think that that means that my dislike of him and his policies is any less strong.
