Title: Gore 2008 Meetup Chats
Description: Come and join the fun!

GSC Admin - March 11, 2005 04:55 PM (GMT)
Dear GSC members,

In the near future we plan on having weekly Meetup chats here on our site. We feel it is time to get everyone together and start talking strategy. This would also be a good time to get to know your fellow Gorites a little better. Next week there will be a poll on the forum asking what day and time is best for you to attend a chat. When a day and time has been chosen, we will then publicize it via email, blogs, forums, and other netroots means.

We hope that you take this opportunity to fight with us for what is rightfully ours!

Chris D. Jackson

earthmother - May 1, 2005 04:25 PM (GMT)
Yeah, what's happening with these meetup chats? Shouldn't we start soon?

ALGOREismylife - May 1, 2005 04:30 PM (GMT)
I still think SUNDAY morning, for most of you it would be early afternoon, sounded good, but I don't know.

yay! we need to start soon!

This is the time to get behind Al and go for it. We need to go all out. Contact friends and have them contact other friends. Lets start NOW! Also....Has anyone thought about the idea of a Gore/Clinton ticket? I would like to think in 8 years after 2008 that Hillary will be capable enough to become our first female president. Just a thought. I would vote for Hillary as a VP not a Pres. Murtha is a great guy very courageous but kind of old for a running mate. Even Obama sounds good but not enough experience yet. Just some thoughts gang.

Sounds good to me! Let us begin....it is time.

Someone's got to do the organizing . . .

Would love to help any way I can. I think we could have a real opportunity to make this country into what it should be with a leader of this calibur and he has already had the public scrutiny.

earthmother - March 8, 2006 09:05 PM (GMT)
Nice to have you with us, Eric.

I'm kind of waiting to see how Gore handles himself on March 12th in Florida. Not that I expect any announcements about running or not running (god forbid), but I'm sure he'll get asked "the question," and it'll be interesting to see how he responds. If he just says the usual, "I don't expect to run," that's one thing. But if he adds, as he has in the past, "but I don't rule out some future interest," then I think we have cause to be very optimistic. :D

I think a Gore/Clinton ticket would be un beatable. On the other hand I think Al can win no matter who is vice pres .

the tinkerist - June 15, 2006 06:28 AM (GMT)
this discussion seems to be pretty old. has anything happened with this?

earthmother - June 15, 2006 04:01 PM (GMT)
Sorry to say, it is old, and nothing's happened with it.

We used to chat often.

We can do it again if enough people show interest.

When are the MeetUp chats?

earthmother - June 23, 2006 07:30 PM (GMT)
We don't have any scheduled at the moment.

Mark Strachan - June 29, 2006 06:38 AM (GMT)
Ok, this looks like the only thread where people are talking, and you mention strategy, so I want to talk strategy:

Simple:

Al Gore needs to go sit with Bill Gates, and convince the Bill and Melinda Gates foundation to change their focus slightly.

The Bill and Melinda gates foundation has got brains, money, and influence, more than anyone. They want to cure disease. What they need to incorporate, is that disease is a function of the environment. That message is missing from their mission statement.

Al Gore could be the one to put it in there. If Bill and Melinda Gates adjust their mission, they could save the world.

This could be our best hope.

What do you think?

-Mark.

Mark Strachan - June 29, 2006 06:45 AM (GMT)
I'm the same user as the above post, but now I'm registered.

I just registered, so if there is anyone I can talk to about that idea, I'd really like to talk to someone about that to see what we could do to make it happen.

If it hasn't already...

-Mark

Wouldn't you need to talk to Bill and Melinda Gates?

And you could write a letter to Al if you want him to approach them . . .

My past experience with getting people to agree on a date to meet was to simply set a date (i.e. second Tuesday of each month) and say I will be there at that time, show up if you can. I did that and after unsuccessful years of trying to get a group of my friends together for even once a year, we met as a group 8 to 9 times a year (for several years after that).

My participation?? I'm not good on the fly and pretty much never use chat which what I guess you mean is instant messenger.

I'm not as politically astute as most of you. I'm mostly environmental minded except that I can't think of anything more important than having Al Gore for President. So I will try to keep up if you all don't mind.

Date and Time - don't matter to me.

earthmother - June 29, 2006 02:47 PM (GMT)
Yeah, we've had a terrible time trying to get everybody to agree when we could do this in the past. You're right, thisplanet, that we just have to pick a date and time, and whoever can be there will be there.

I'm not exactly sure what there is to discuss right now, but if people want to have a chat, we can certainly set one up. Just let me know . . .

There is a meeting of Southside DFA at Pilgreen's in Morrow (Atlanta area) on the first Wednesday of each month {this coming Wednesday July 5} at 7:00. I am working through DFA in this particular area to formulate both a progressive message and a Gore for President organization. Anyone in the Atlanta area is welcome...just go to the DFA-link and RSVP for this meeting. Keep the faith.

earthmother - July 3, 2006 02:33 AM (GMT)
Good work, yardman.

We'll be starting Gore meetups soon across the country--target date, the beginning of August.

Will notify everyone when that gets underway.
