The Al Gore Support Center Urges All Democrats To Unite

The Al Gore Support Center is a grassroots organization that was started by 17 year old Chris D. Jackson of Loretto, Tennessee in November of 2002. The organization started out as a way to urge Vice President Gore to seek the presidency again in 2004, however, after Gore announced that he would not run, the site soon became a home of one of the many draft Gore efforts. Presently, the Al Gore Support Center houses hundreds of “Hardcore Gore Supporters,” who on a daily basis, strive to promote Al Gore’s vision for America in every way possible.

Loretto, Tennessee PRWEB) July 6, 2004 -- The Al Gore Support Center, a pro Gore organization established in 2002, officially announces its backing of Al Gore’s decision to support John F. Kerry for President in 2004 via this press release.

To The Democratic Party and the undecided voters of America:

The Al Gore Support Center has taken its first step in helping John Kerry win back the White House in 2004, by endorsing the soon to be democratic nominee over President George W. Bush and Ralph Nader.

Although our organization is dedicated to Al Gore and his values and always will be, we proudly stand behind Senator John Kerry for President in 2004. Like a number of our fellow democrats, most of our members initially supported another candidate for President in 2004. That candidate was Al Gore. Just until late last year, the Al Gore Support Center was the home for one of the many draft Gore campaigns around the country, which urged Vice President Gore to put his hat in the ring and win back what was rightfully his. However, after months of campaigning to change Gore’s mind, the Vice President cordially said thanks but no thanks in a matter of ways. Since then, our organization has remained loyal and has continued in its dedication to Al Gore in various ways. One way in particular is our following in Vice President Gore’s lead in uniting behind John Kerry for President.

This is not a time for division in our party, but a time for unprecedented unity. Our nation’s democracy is at its lowest point in history right now. The terrible condition of our democracy can be linked and credited to one particular incident, the 2000 presidential election. Not only were millions of voters disenfranchised around the country, but the people lost their voice in a process that is supposed to be of the people, for the people, and by the people. Instead, unelected and extreme United States Supreme Court, overturned the will of the people and with all intensive purposes, appointed George W. Bush the next President of the United State of America. Ever since that terrible decision, our nation has suffered not only embarrassment throughout the world, but resentment and hatred.

We firmly believe in the old proverb which reads, “you reap what you sow.” The United States Supreme Court planted a bad seed in 2000, now the American people and people around the world are paying the price for the bad foliage. Ever since taking office, the Bush administration has subjected us to dishonor and disgrace, which has not been seen in this country since the Nixon-Agnew reign of power. In the area of foreign policy, the Bush administration led us into a war that was based on lies and fabrications, which has not only cost the tax payers of America billions of dollars, but cost almost 900 of our bravest their lives. Also while in Iraq, the administration allowed and promoted the use of torture, which defied the Geneva Conventions and every ounce of conviction that our nation was built upon. And it’s just not on foreign policy either. Whether it is the US economy where they have lost over 2 million jobs and ran up the biggest deficit in history, or in the area of civil liberties, where they initiated the Patriot Act which clearly violates a number of inalienable rights, they have shown a clear disregard for the truth and the rule of law. That is why it is urgent that all democrats and undecided voters come together to help fulfill and re-instate Al Gore’s vision of a more peaceful and prosperous tomorrow by electing his friend and colleague, John Kerry, the next President of the United States of America.

In closing, we leave you with the words from Al Gore himself on Senator John Kerry: “John Kerry earned the nomination of this Party! He won it the hard way! He got out there, and he fought for it! He has become known to one and all as a man of experience and integrity and enormous ability. And every time there was a fight that needed to be waged on behalf of the people of this country, John Kerry was helping to lead that fight. He helped to lead the fight to help President Clinton and the Clinton/Gore Administration bring about the new economics that we enjoyed in the 1990s. He helped to lead the fight for a clean environment. And I can tell you as somebody who's fought for the environment all my life, there is nobody that I have ever served with who has a better record on the environment - - environment and the economy together - - than John Kerry. You can count on him. His values are just in the right place. And you can trust him.

And let me say also that nobody has done more to help articulate the values that are necessary to rebuild a strong a defense in this country. Because in the Clinton/Gore Administration, we built back up the strength of our military into the strongest military force that this world has ever seen. And John Kerry was in the forefront, in the United States Senate, of building up that strong defense for the people of the United States of America. He stood for the "COPS" program, and strong law enforcement.

And one other thing - - there is no one who has ever served with John Kerry who has ever doubted for one moment that he has the innate ability to serve this country in whatever capacity he is asked to serve this country. He was a genuine war hero, fighting for America in Vietnam - - and we honor that service - - and in the United States Senate. And he's going to be a great President of the United States of America, ladies and gentlemen.”

Please take Al Gore’s comments to heart when making your decision to support Senator Kerry. Al Gore himself is someone who has his values in the right place. He is also someone you can trust and count on. Throughout the years, Vice President Al Gore has been a great friend, mentor, Representative, Senator, and Vice President and would have made a superb president, and still might someday. However, it is now his advice and leadership as the moral leader of our country that we must rely on. Please join the Vice President and the Al Gore Support Center in uniting behind Senator John Kerry for President in 2004.

Thank you,
Chris D. Jackson

Thanks James, it came from my heart so hopefully it will come through. Like I said it should be on the major news feeds within the next days.

Also, hope everyone had a great 4th of July!

it true we should all be as one to fix this crsis that could occur in the future.

Unfortunately, it's not going to happen. Even just the groups supporting Gore are already all over the place, doing different things in different ways. It would be great if we could all unite under one banner, but there are just too many factions.

One can only hope that we will be effective working as separate groups.

Any chance at all that a Gore write-in campaign would have positive results and let Mr. Gore know that we want and need him as President?? Would it be possible to do a large enough internet campaign to pull it off? My fear would be votes pulled from Obama that would give McCain an edge, but are there enough folks out there who would prefer Gore to give it a possibility of succeeding?

earthmother, great to see your name on the board again.

Still, I admit your vacation was years over due.

Welcome back.

If the other Democratic candidate's followers cannot back the party's nominee then they have only themselves to blame if a Democrat is not elected President of the United States. I can only hope they are not so selfish and vindictive.
