Chris, shouldn't that be MILLIONS of other Americans support AL GORE, atleast I hope so.
Any suggestions on how to talk to stubborn, closed-minded deceived hypocrite republicans who think Bush was sent by God. These people are unbelievable, it's like talking to a wall. They just don't want to hear how awful Bush is, no matter what you tell them, the just don't listen. They don't seem to care about the country or the world. Let Bush destroy it, in the name of God. The religious hypocrisy is sickening, I really can't believe some people can be so stupid and I can say this because I know some of these people and it is so frustrating talking to them about the truth they don't want to hear. :(

I'm supporting him because he's the way back to having a future and the country I once knew.

We all feel the same way here, Green Soldier. Good to have you here. :good:
Dr. Jeannette - December 18, 2006 02:08 AM (GMT)
I want Al Gore to run in 2008. We need a leader like FDR to lead the country and the world on global warming. I don't think the planet has much of a chance if we don't get someone in the Whitehouse who understands how dire the situation is. Gore is the man for the job!
I feel panicked that there is no coverage of global warming in the news. And when I talk to people, even my liberal, Democrat friends look at me like I'm crazy -- like I'm Chicken Little. They actually roll their eyes.
I am glad to have found this forum. I am getting involved with my local Sierra Club but even they are not that organized yet. They are working on the "Cool Cities" agenda. Knowing how much trouble our planet is in and seeing no concern from the people all around me is making me crazy. :o
ALGOREismylife - December 18, 2006 02:21 AM (GMT)
Welcome, Dr. Jeannette and yes, more than ever we need AL GORE as our president. We all hope he will hear us and run in 2008 and finally serve is rightful eight years as our president. We all know he's been elected once and he can do it again.
When AL GORE talks, people listen. This great and honest man is only trying to help this planet and everyone on it. He has so much integrity and experience, and cares so much. We all will be deprived if he doesn't run in 2008. But if he decides to run in 2008, I feel in fair election, AL will win and be the much needed president we all need, and when I say we all need, I mean the whole world. :good:
Please AL, run in 2008.
earthmother - December 18, 2006 02:25 AM (GMT)
Dr. Jeanette, you are among like-minded people here. And if you're looking to help in a way that will make a difference to get Gore in the White House, you've come here at exactly the right time. Just this weekend, we have launched our big push to convince Gore that he has the support he needs to run and win.
As you may know, there are many groups on the web (and off) who want Gore to run. The trouble is, we're all working independently of each other. Since the likelihood of getting so many diverse groups to work together is pretty slim, we've decided to take our effort to the next level. We're urging all Al Gore supporters on our site and others to work through a neutral organization to come together and do what needs to be done to get more people to support a Gore presidency in 2008. I'm working as a liaison between this site and AlGore.org. My official title over there is Chief of Staff, Volunteer Division. My job is to recruit people and unite us all in this effort to get Gore into the White House.
How it works is as follows: We're encouraging everyone to either host a meetup or attend a meetup in their area. Register with meetup.com to host a meetup, and AlGore.org will pay the rather hefty registration fee so there's no financial burden to the host. Anyone who's interested in hosting a meetup should contact me at krw@superlink.net, and I'll arrange for you to get an AG.org "coupon" that will prepay the registration fee to host a meetup on meetup.com.
If you're uneasy about hosting a meetup, you can still register (for free) at meetup.com to attend a meetup. Perhaps eventually you'll feel comfortable enough to host your own. That's how the whole meetup concept works, and it was very effective for Howard Dean in the 2004 election cycle. We need this movement to take off, and it will only happen if we work toward it.
AlGore.org has mentors who will help anyone who's interested in hosting learn how to host an effective meetup. We're trying to make it as easy as possible for people. We pay the registration fee. We train you. All you have to do is register and host the meetup.
I'm hoping everyone on this site who's been chatting here for years will join us in this important effort. The time to show Gore we support him is BEFORE he makes that Shermanesque statement. He may or may not decide to run on his own. But if we show him that he has enough support to run and win, it's much more likely that he'll decide to enter the race.
Let's all show our commitment to getting Al Gore in the White House in 2008 and get this effort off the ground.

Im here in the midwest, Nebraska and I have posted bullitins and added things to my MySpace page to allert people about Mr. Gore. It has seemed to work because allot of my republican friends have commented to me on how much they like him now that they know the facts. Some have even signed a petition related to gore I have on my page. Its not much but, right now here in this highly republican town and state..
Trying to do my part for Gore!!

Welcome, Nikki! I think it's great that you're doing what you're doing.
We've got a serious campaign going on now to get Gore to run. Is there any chance you or anyone who visits you at MySpace would be willing to organize a meetup group in your area? If you yourself aren't interested, could you maybe post something about our campaign on your site, referring them to me if they want to organize a Draft Al Gore Meetup Group through AlGore.org? I could even write a little blurb for you if you're wiling to post it there. We've got 29 groups up and running all across the country now, and I've got commitments from ten others to start one up, with many more to come. But we need publicity. Can you help us?
Let me know.
And meanwhile, hope you'll be an active member of our online community. :good:

You can't talk sense to these people. I just usually make a weird face like I just saw a banana aqueeze out of their nose and say "You support Bush?" and then walk away laughing hysterically.
I also went to a website that sells funny/sometimes offensive t-shirts and bought one that reads:
The Latest Presidential Approval Rating Poll Shows That Nearly 1/3 Of All Americans Are F***ing Idiots
The only thing those neanderthals understand is bullying. I tell them, "It's okay- when Gore is president he'll still represent your best interests anyway."

I support drafting Al Gore because he is one of two Democrat who knows from personal experience how the Republican machine operates, where the neo-cons have stashed their personnel in D.C. (who will still be there after January 2009) (The other Hillary Clinton will be killed off by the Hillary haters) Gore is respected (even loved) by people all over the world and will be the only one capable of restoring America's good name (let alone influence) once in office.
Stop wasting time arguing with Republicans who support Bush. They are hopeless. Focus on undeclared and independents (persuadables) not the hopeless.

Interesting post. Isn't it peculiar that since this was first posted that the biggest contributor to global warming is being curbed not by legislation, but by economics!?! Sales of the big gas-guzzlers is hitting rock bottom due to the astonishing (but predictable) rise in oil/gas prices! And factories cannot turn out hybrid and electric cars fast enough to meet demand all of a sudden! Anyone seen "Who Killed the Electric Car"? It's worth renting, but at this point, only if you have your blood pressure pills close by! We blew it! And the people of the US didn't do anything at all to stop it.
As a geologist, I realized years ago that we made a HUGE mistake back in the 1930's when the decision was made to develop the highway infrastructure instead mass transit thereby encouraging the use of privately owned vehicles, though I do understand why that decision was made and why it seemed a sound decision at the time. Now Americans will fight tooth and nail to hang onto the right to travel where they want when they want in their own cars regardless of the effect on the environment and most areas of the country are singularly lacking in adequate, efficient, inexpensive mass transit.
Even more interesting is that this attitude has now transferred to the former Soviet Union! Auto pollution in Moscow is horrific (though can't even begin to approach the levels of Beijing!)!! And all anyone wants in Moscow is the prestige of having the biggest, best car in town (sound familiar?), nevermind Moscow has one of the best rapid transit/subway systems in the world!! It is awesome! And also only 18 rubles (about 85 cents) a ride and once in the system one can ride to every single station (close to 100) in the city for that same 18 rubles (no transfer fees). The surface buses, trams, and electric trolleys cost about the same but charge another ticket for a transfer. However, Moscow does NOT have the infrastructure to support the 3 million cars on its inadequate road system now and it certainly can't handle the projected 3 million more to be added within the next 5 years! It can easily take 5 hours of sitting in traffic to commute 17 miles from downtown Moscow to the suburbs on a busy workday now!
The US started this car-as-status attitude and now it has become the standard in the new Russia!! We are responsible! However, since Russia is used to high gas prices, what is happening in the US is not happening in Russia. The very rich and almost-rich are still buying the big cars and the big SUV's that denote status. The not-so-rich drive what would be called polluting "beaters" in the US - catalytic converters not required. The smart and the poor ride the metro and bus system (consistently 45 minutes from downtown to the same suburb). And where does this air pollution go? Into the wind directly to Alaska and onto the jet stream to the continental US and Canada!! One can only hope that the changing attitude in the West will find its way to the East or it won't matter who is President or who is leading the war against global warming!
We have made ourselves an endangered species and have waited way too long to do anything really effective about it, with the US right there in the lead. Things might be different if Mr. Gore had taken his rightful place in 2000, but even that is debatable. Too many years of self-indulgence and the persistent belief that personal transportation is a right and a status symbol had already reached a point of no return by 2000. The treeline had already moved 100 miles north along the Dalton Highway in Alaska and the permafrost and icepack were already melting and accelerating at unprecedented levels. It's just a shame that as a world leader the US did not set an example for emerging countries back in the 60's when we first recognized where things were headed and at a time when it might have been arrested or at least slowed down. Now we pay the price - economically, environmentally, and as inhabitants of this planet. The planet will survive and will recover. Humans (and many other species) probably will not. Perhaps someone should have raised gas prices to over $4./gallon a couple of decades ago!
I support Al Gore because he is willing to put his moral, ethical, and environmental beliefs and knowledge above his political aspirations and has the guts to take a public stand with what he knows and believes, popular or not. He is the first truly intelligent, ethical candidate to run for office in decades which tells me he would uphold those ideals and make intelligent, well-researched decisions in any arena facing him, be it the environment or the war! He is a man I can truly repect and admire. Offhand I can't think of any other political candidate for any office of whom I can honestly say the same.
