Title: Google News Bombarded With Anit Gore Stuff
GSC Admin - December 22, 2004 09:57 PM (GMT)
I have seen this before, however, I don't know how and why it happens. They push up old anti Gore stuff on the news section in bunches. For example, now when you type in Al Gore (http://news.google.com/news?q=Al%20Gore&hl=en&lr=&sa=N&tab=wn) and go to news these are the headlines:
Seņor Al Gore: El Most Dangeroso Hombre in el Worldo

Al Gore Still Shows No Signs Of Catching On To Election 2000 ...

This is yet another example of how the right wing is controlling what we read. No where does it have any of Gore's more recent speeches or his lectures at MTSU or Harvard. I think we should all email Google and demand for this to change because it is a disgrace!
Note: This is the same for other politicans on Google such as Dean and Bush. This is a news service, not a damn humor site. We should contact them!

Go at them Gorarriors!

The problem, unfortunately, lies in how Google operates. The sites come up in order of popularity, which means sites that have the most links to the topic you're looking for are at the top of the list. Unfortunately, as Gore has faded from the public scene (not to us, but largely to everyone else), the main activity regarding him is going to be from all those Gore haters who continue to make jokes, etc. So those are the sites that will come out on top when you Google him. We can try contacting Google, but because this is how that search engine works (and it's a damn good one, I might add), I'm afraid there's little they or we can do about it. <_<

Unfortunately, the problem lies in how Google operates. The sites that come out on top are sites that are most often linked to for whatever the topic is. Sadly, as Gore has faded from the public eye (not to his fans, but to most everyone else), the main sites linked to in a search on "Al Gore" are ones that make jokes about him, tell lies about him, etc. We can try contacting Google, but I'm afraid there'd be little they or we can do about it. It's just the way that search engine works (and it's a damn good one, I might add). I don't think there's much we can do about this. :bad:

Too bad those sick individuals {the GORE haters} can't find something better to do, they have to have really pathetic lives to make jokes or spread lies about PRESIDENT AL GORE, most people out here know better than to put down AL GORE around me and in fact I have opened some ears and some are listening. With only a handful of deceived Bushies around hear, some are actually seeing how much we really need AL GORE to run in 2008. The ones that know what Bush is and most people I know can't stand him, they are ready to listen and it is a good feeling when they do. We should all do this where we live and get people thinking about AL GORE in 2008 and what better time than right now with Bush's ratings going down and no doubt they will continue to do so.

Earthmother, you are right that is how Google search works, however, this is Google News, which only covers news from news outlets. This should not happen there.

All this says to me is that the right is really scared of Gore running again. They know they lost to him in 2000 and they barely won this year running against a liberal from New England.
How will Guliani or Jeb (both Catholics) play in the deep south against a Southern Baptist like Gore in 2008?

Oops. Earthmother stepped out to lunch for a minute there. I think they took too much blood from me this afternoon. But you're right, Chris. It shouldn't happen in the news section. It's possible James has it right. I'd like to think they're scared of Gore running in '08. He does have a really commanding presence, doesn't he? Larger than life?
I'M AL GORE. I WON THE PRESIDENCY IN 2000. I'M RUNNING AGAIN IN 2008. HEAR ME NOW.

Garden Stater - December 23, 2004 01:11 AM (GMT)
I agree, otherwise why would they start to attack him so early on? They did it with Dean, they did it with Kerry, and now they're doing with Gore 4 years before he has the chance to take back the Presidency.
What do you think the best way to counter this is?
earthmother - December 23, 2004 01:30 AM (GMT)
Write to Google, as Chris suggested, and set them straight.
Sic 'em, GS! Grrrrr . . . .
ALGOREismylife - December 23, 2004 01:40 AM (GMT)
I've always felt although not much has been said about this, the republicans don't want AL GORE to run in 2008 because he would not only kick-ass, the election won't be as easy to rig against AL GORE a second time. If Jeb Bush runs, yeah I know time to barf, who wants to hear he is running??? I really think some people even some republicans will wake up and say enough is enough NOT ANOTHER BUSH, they screwed the country and the world enough. Is is just me, but I do not like that sleazy Jeb Bush.
earthmother - December 23, 2004 01:50 AM (GMT)
Actually, Jeb is very popular (ha ha! That came out "poopular" when I first wrote it! ). Ahem. As I was saying . . . Jeb is very popular as governor of Florida. And nationally, I think he'd probably play well, especially since he was the behind-the-scenes puppet master with the whole thing that cost Gore the election in 2000 in the first place. We Dems. should be concerned if Jeb runs in '08. Unless, of course, Dubya continues to tank for the next few years, as he's doing now. We'll just have to wait and see.

earthmother - December 23, 2004 03:10 AM (GMT)
Here's my question: Never mind how popular Jeb is or isn't . . . is there an official investigation going on about what's going on in these photos you've posted?
ErinB - December 23, 2004 04:25 AM (GMT)
When I did a Yahoo search not too long ago, I still got parody sites like algorerules.com near the top of the list.
They are all really outdated and they should not be given preference in a search.
In the pictures above, can it be proven as to what exactly they are doing with the machines?
Garden Stater - December 23, 2004 05:00 AM (GMT)
Nothing official, other than the votergate tv crew and Black Box Voting staff is working with them on getting a recount for the 2004 election. Apparently according to Bev Harris, the person who runs Black Box Voting, the Votergate TV Crew have video of a *literal tug of war* over poll tapes in Florida
The link to the article is here, but for some reason it's down right now. Hopefully it'll be up again soon.
http://forum.therandirhodesshow.com/index....ST&f=88&t=38015Then again there's a possibility it might not be because Keith Oldbermann's staff, Democratic Underground, and Randi are all saying they've tried to contact her and couldn't get a hold of her so now they're raising all kinds of questions about her, but I think from what she's done, I can't see her abandoning the cause for her own purposes all of a sudden after this past election.
The site's blackboxvoting.org and if I have time I'll make a post about what each side is saying.
Garden Stater - December 27, 2004 02:04 AM (GMT)
Hmm... I guess it won't be up again any time soon, so I'll try to find another source for it.
As far as the News goes, is it possible that the news works the same way the search engine does, most poular first?
ReElectAlGore2008 - December 29, 2004 11:02 PM (GMT)
Wouldn't surprise me if the clinton team is the one doing some of this.
Seems to me the only two serious contenders are Al and Hillary.
and Clinton would do childish stuff like this. His m.o.
That is why Al needs to come out early as the "anti-Hillary" so to say.
None of the other candidates are big enough, wouldn't you agree?
earthmother - December 29, 2004 11:06 PM (GMT)
I agree that Al and Hillary will overshadow anyone else who runs. But I also think Al will overshadow Hillary. For one thing, she's got a lot of explaining to do regarding her vote for the Iraq resolution. There was no justification for it, IMO. Same problem Kerry had--he had to dance around that one through the whole campaign. If Iraq is still an issue when it comes time to campaign (and there's every reason to think it will be), Hillary's going to have a tough time with that one. Also, she can't touch Al when it comes to experience. She'd be a two-term Senator by then--big deal. Of course, she's got the big guy in the wings whispering in her ear, but I'm not sure that's a plus at this point. Al's got it all over her, even with having been out of government since 2000.

Yes, Al has it over her, yet he will have to walk a long road to get back in the swing of things so to speak. He needs to keep making speeches like he has done the past two years on pressing issues. If he remains silent for the next couple of years leading up to the midterm elections, I feel he may be taking himself out of the game altogether.
Speak for us Mr. President!! (He's President for 23 more days! Though he will always be President to me until he has served his eight years.)
earthmother - December 30, 2004 02:08 AM (GMT)
I hope he'll continue giving speeches, both because he has so much to say and he's so good at it, but also because if he stops, I think you're right, it'll be a signal that he's getting out of the game. He'd better not, is all I can say.
ALGOREismylife - December 30, 2004 02:13 AM (GMT)
But we should all give our PRESIDENT time to recover from his family tragedy right before the holidays. It's only been two weeks.
