So was the Ayatollah Khomeini.

Well it looks like TIME listed the evil mass-murdering leaders of the 20th Century. I guess they're now starting on the 21st.

I think their point was that, if you knew anything about what they wrote about him, aside from saying he showed leadership, it also said he successfully changed reality to fit his views. And I agree, his campaign was the most successful attack on reality in modern history. Case and point, how many times have you accidentally said Osama Bin Laden instead of Saddam Hussein, or Saddam Hussein instead of Osama Bin Laden. Even John Kerry did it at the debates

I repeat, The Most Successful Attack on Reality in Modern History.

ALGOREismylife - December 19, 2004 05:23 PM (GMT)
What is the obsession with this EVIL, LYING, THIEVING Bastard????

JoshPurple - December 19, 2004 06:02 PM (GMT)
Ulp! Barf! Gag! Cough, cough! NO WAY! Ulp, PUKE!

:dripple:  :bad:

I'd rather see Kermit the Frog as Man of the Year....

I guess Time was thinking, "OK - now we'll get lots of money."

GRRRRR!!!! Bush, the moron who took the world to war by choice...

Garden Stater - December 19, 2004 06:17 PM (GMT)
Well wait, let's take a second look at this, let's oversimplify things and put the people who've been Time Magazine's Man of the Year in 2 categories:

The Pope and MLK Category

And

The Stalin and Hitler Category

Now let's consider that Bush's Vice President voted against a holiday for Martin Luther King and that Bush's grandpappy Prescott Bush

(look it up: http://www.hereinreality.com/familyvalues.html
&
http://66.230.230.110/geeklog/public_html/...040601225012523 )

financed Hitler's uprising with 100s of Millions of dollars (in the 1920s, the top 1% made $10,000 a year, now compare what 100s of Millions must have equated to in the 30s).

Which of these two categories do you think Ol' Georgie would fit into?

ALGOREismylife - December 19, 2004 06:27 PM (GMT)
That is 100% true about Prescott Bush, the whole Bush family is pure EVIL. I'm sure most of you have, but for those who haven't, check out SKULL and BONES.

Garden Stater - December 19, 2004 07:01 PM (GMT)
. . . John Kerry was a member of Skull and Bones

Do you really think it's relevant?

ALGOREismylife - December 19, 2004 07:04 PM (GMT)
We all know that the real PRESIDENT AL GORE would never be a member of some evil junk like Skull and Bones, so yes it's relevant. Kerry has nothing to do with it.

Garden Stater - December 19, 2004 07:19 PM (GMT)
I know someone from AlGore-08 who says he knows some people who were members of Skull and Bones and they're normal and ok people. I'm inclined to think that it's nothing more than a fraternity thing that's very well-known. If you could give me some information to the contrary I'd welcome it, but I haven't come across any.

Amy Goodman of Democracy Now! felt it was worthy of a show though, I haven't watched yet though. I credit Amy Goodman for being a rare breed of candid honest journalists with high credibility.

If you want to check it out you can go to democracynow.org and search for "Skull and Bones"

But I don't think Skull and Bones is an important enough issue in comparison to the other things people should consider. Again, I'd welcome info to the contrary if you have any.

ALGOREismylife - December 19, 2004 07:51 PM (GMT)
Don't talk to me like I know nothing. Skull and Bones is a Satanic society, obviously if the whole Bush family are members. Yes there is plenty of information on this subject. Check out George W. Bush is the AntiChrist and there is all kinds of proof. And just knowing THIEF BUSH is a member of anything, it has to be evil.

Garden Stater - December 19, 2004 08:12 PM (GMT)
I'm not trying to be condescending, I was just saying I don't have any info about it, apparently you do. I also said Amy Goodman reported on it and that I respect her judgement. I'd just like to know more about something before I make conclusions about it, and so far, in my view in comparison to other issues, it doesn't seem like much, but I'll assure you I'll look into it. Unless of course, you'd like to show me some info first.

Like I said, I know someone from AG08 who has some friends who were once in Skull and Bones and they're not evil. Just because my view or judgement, or lack of a conclusion is different from yours doesn't mean that I'm disdainful of yours in any way.

earthmother - December 19, 2004 11:58 PM (GMT)
AGMIL, I don't think anyone was talking to you as if you know nothing.

And now for you IGMY . . . You asked, "What's the point?" about Hitler and Stalin and Khoemeni having been Time MOTY. Here's the point. The sole criterion for their selection in any given year is that the person be someone who changed the world. Not for better, necessarily, but just someone who had an impact on the world. Hitler did, Stalin did, Khoemeni did, MLK did, the Pope did. It says nothing about people having contributed positively to the world. So, as Garden Stater pointed out, if you have two categories, and one contains MLK and the Pope, and the other contains the "evil-doers," we know where Bush belongs. Get it?

Also, on the subject of Amy Goodman . . . Amy Goodman laid traps for one of our own when she did an interview on her show last year. I don't have much respect for her since that. It was akin to watching Steve on Hannity a couple of weeks ago. Rather than give Jan the opportunity to speak well of Gore, she did everything she could to trip her up. I don't think that was right for someone who's supposedly a liberal.

ErinB - December 20, 2004 12:32 AM (GMT)
Was that Amy Goodman?? or was it Arnie Arneson from New Hampshire you are talking about? (She was the host on that station we bought commercials from and some of us could get it online...the host was a Dean supporter)

Wow, she was on Democracy Now? When was it?

Are personal attacks really necessary? That's the same line Oyster ran by me at AG08. All I was trying to say was let's agree to disagree. I try to avoid personal attacks because they do nothing to bring a conversation along, and in my personal opinion seem childish. So can we stick to challenging ideas, rather than each other?

I got a right to be alittle pissed, I have been taking abuse from you kids for two weeks, from being called "gay" and everything else. Talk about personal attacks??? Excuse me me if I'm alittle tired of it and having the moderators defend you, oh well, guess I've got to defend myself although my main goal here is to defend PRESIDENT AL GORE and see him rightfully get back what is his, the presidency in 2008.

Garden Stater - December 20, 2004 02:33 AM (GMT)
What do you mean you kids I defended you when brittany said "ALgoreismylife is such a gay name" I can't seem to find it now, but read it and you'll see. Also at AG08 when Mt.Oyster said something to the effect of "Now that AGISL guy, he's full of rage" and then posted a link to some support group, I defended you there too (as DJWK). http://www.algore-08.com/forum/index.php?t...msg6923#msg6923

All I did here was disagree with you on Skull and Bones, the people who attacked you weren't me, and I'm not them.

ErinB - December 20, 2004 02:42 AM (GMT)
AGIML, I didn't get the impression that anyone was making you look stupid. There is no way they could. You are a true Gore supporter!

Garden Stater: I LOVE that peace sign.

Boy, has this thread gone wacko since I last checked in!

Okay, for starters . . . AGIML--I was defending you, not "the kids," as you call them. Where'd you get the idea I was defending them? I was trying to make you feel better. Apparently I didn't do a very good job.

And Garden Stater, you're right. We should keep these things from becoming personal and only deal with the issues. Unfortunately we don't always succeed. I'd like to see this thread get back on track, though.

And Erin? I remember Arne Arneson, but don't I remember something about Amy Goodman? Geez, these chemo drugs are really messing me up. Wasn't there something with Amy Goodman when we were working in, oh, geez, where was it . . . Minnesota, Wisconsin? Hey, this is how rumors get started. Sorry. I just thought I remembered something about Amy Goodman, too.

So now that we've all offended each other (and total innocents like Amy Goodman, too), can we just get back to talking about the issue? Which was . . . :?:

ErinB - December 20, 2004 03:02 AM (GMT)
I don't remember Amy Goodman but that doesn't mean anything...I forget things quite a bit and have no excuse.

earthmother - December 20, 2004 03:14 AM (GMT)
Erin, I may have an excuse, but I'm sure you're memory's better than mine on this one. I'm wrong! I'm sure I'm the one who's wrong. Forgive me, Amy and everyone else. Better shut up now, I think.

earthmother - December 20, 2004 02:04 PM (GMT)
Exactly. My only point was that the editors of Time select the MOTY based on having had an influence on the world, not a good one or a bad one. You might argue about the Pope, but I seriously doubt you'd argue about Hitler, Stalin, or Khoemeini, and if you do, then you deserve that name that James has been calling you!

Yes, and Hitler did do a good job of getting those pesky Jews off the street.

earthmother - December 20, 2004 02:34 PM (GMT)
You're absolutely right, and the trouble is, my brain's not working well. I actually tried to think of one thing Hitler had done that was good, and I drew blanks. So, you showed me up. I've had worse things happen than that. <_<

If I remember correctly, back in the 80's, there was much discussion about using the results of cold water testing that Hitler had conducted. They were looking at the testing and results and found them to be sound.

This is a subject I know nothing about.

How sick!

earthmother - December 20, 2004 09:44 PM (GMT)
Ugh, look out . . . I'm gonna puke!

ALGOREismylife - December 20, 2004 10:10 PM (GMT)
That's disgusting, I think I'm going to puke, barf and vomit all at the same time, but I can't, I'm at the library.

earthmother - December 20, 2004 10:15 PM (GMT)
Is it a library in a Republican stronghold? If so, go right ahead! It would serve them right. <_<

ALGOREismylife - December 20, 2004 10:20 PM (GMT)
It's half and half, one of the librarians is pro-Bush, the crap all over her car made me sick, and if I see that latest issue of that republiTHUG rag "TIME" before I leave here, I just might upchuck.

earthmother - December 20, 2004 10:27 PM (GMT)
I have a guilty confession to make. After the election, I took a pen to someone's Bush/Cheney '04 sticker on their car. Hey, it was dark, no one knew . . . :ph43r:

ALGOREismylife - December 20, 2004 10:39 PM (GMT)
I have a mini-confession to make, I wanted to do it, almost did do it, but didn't. I'm glad you had the guts to do it. Someone did however, not me, but I loved it, wrote BUSH SUCKS on a stop sign.

GSC Admin - December 20, 2004 10:40 PM (GMT)
Earthmother, I am going to alert the Moral Majority Police!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You go girl!

earthmother - December 20, 2004 10:43 PM (GMT)
Hey, I feel really sleazy now for admitting that. But I couldn't help myself!

ErinB - December 20, 2004 10:56 PM (GMT)
It is such a great thing my Time subscription expired last month so I don't have to have that face in my house.

Earthmother!! You could have gotten busted for that! We would have come to bail you out...
