http://www.cbsnews.com/blogs/2009/08/07/po...ry5224581.shtmlViolence Breaks Out at Democratic Town HallsFont size Print E-mail Share 43 comments Posted by Stephanie Condon Angry mobs protesting health care reform continue to crop up at Democratic town halls across the country, with shouts and shoves most recently exchanged in both Tampa, Fla. and St. Louis, Mo.
At a Tampa forum, Democratic Rep. Kathy Castor struggled to make herself heard and eventually cut her appearance short as dozens of people shouted "Tyranny! Tyranny! Tyranny!" reports the St. Petersburg Times. Amid the crowd of about 1,500, the newspaper reported, other chants rang out like, "Tell the truth! Tell the truth!" "Read the bill!" "Forty-million illegals! Forty million illegals!"
With the auditorium at the Tampa Children's Board of Hillsborough County quickly reaching full capacity, Tampa Police started turning people away. Subsequently, violence broke out outside, reports local CBS affiliate WTSP, with at least one person being treated for minor injuries. A photojournalist reported had his glasses and camera equipment broken.
The event was sponsored by sponsored by state Rep. Betty Reed and the Service Employees International Union, but many protesters said they were prompted to attend by the Tampa 912 ACTIVIST GROUP promoted by conservative television personality GLENN BECK, the St. Petersburg Times reported. Other protesters reported receiving e-mails with talking points to speak out against health care reform from the HILLSBOROUGH REPUBLICAN PARTY.
"The insurance industry and … Republican activists are manufacturing a lot of these phony protests,'' Castor said, according to the St. Petersburg Times. Meanwhile, six people were arrested Thursday night in St. Louis, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, after health care reform protests broke out at what was intended to be a forum on aging with Democratic Rep. Russ Carnahan. Three people were reportedly arrested for suspicion of committing peace disturbances, two for suspicion of assault and one for resisting arrest.
An unanticipated crowd of several hundred people turned out to the Bernard Middle School gym in south St. Louis County, the Post-Dispatch reported, due in part to the local Tea Party Coalition, which urged members to attend the forum and subsequently spurred Democrats to boost their attendance as well.
One conservative African-American activist, who was taken to the emergency room of a local hospital with injuries, told the newspaper that another black man used a racial slur against him and then physically attacked him.
"It just seems there's no freedom of speech without being attacked," he reportedly said.
One liberal attendee who was arrested told the Post-Dispatch his 51-year-old female friend was sprayed with mace by police officers after attempting to takepictures of the scene.

BLACK SABBATH lyrics - The Mob Rules
Close the city and tell the people that something's coming to call
Death and darkness are rushing forward to take a bite from the wall, oh
You've nothing to say
They're breaking away
If you listen to fools...
The Mob Rules
The Mob Rules
Kill the spirit and you'll be blinded, the end is always the same
Play with fire, you burn your fingers and lose your hold of the flame, oh
It's over, it's done
The end is begun
If you listen to fools...
The Mob Rules
You've nothing to say
Oh, They're breaking away
If you listen to fools...
Break the circle and stop the movement, the wheel is thrown to the ground
Just remember it might start rolling and take you right back around
You're all fools!
The Mob Rules!

No matter how loud lies and hate is shouted the truth speaks louder. I was at one of these in Hollywood a Nelsons office. I had to leave because I carry a gun and may have shot one of these people. They could care less about health care. There was a bus down the street that brought them. They are paid agitators along with a few uneducated morons who jump on any band wagon as long as they can cause trouble. It is much like we saw in the 60's when they tried to beat down the blacks with lies and intimidation. It is what Hitler used to beat down the people as his lies were spread. It takes very little research to expose the Republican lies. Any objective person with half a brain can find the true information. You should see most of these people. They are one step away from inbreeds. They can't say anything other then what they have on pieces of paper they have been given.
Just the other day in Boca area they crashed a meeting that was nothing more then a bunch of elderly who meet every month to discuss and learn about Social Security issues. They people are just pure hate and fear mongers. They scared the hell out of these old people who had no idea what was going on.These 9/12'ers are JUST TRYING TO DISRUPT TOWN MEETINGS! THAT WAY LIMBAUGH-HANNITY-BECK (as directed by ROVE) can KEEP PEOPLE FROM HEARING THE TRUTH ABOUT THE HEALTHCARE BILL!
Who, in their right mind would menace the ELDERLY? :?:

Really $ean? The the Elderly Old Lady that was soooo convinced the President Obama was an ARAB (because she was spoonfed that info by YOU?) :?:
THAT IS WHY I TOLD UNITY OPERATIVES TO GET PICTURES & VIDEO!
It doesn't matter WHAT THEY ARE WEARING...because we want FACE SHOTS OF THE RING LEADERS! :coolwink:
I gar--ON--Tee that Hillsborough Republicans HAD A LOT TO DO WITH THIS!
WE NEED FACE SHOTS OF THE LEADERS OF THE RIOTS! THAT IS THE ONES THAT BOUGHT THE BUS TO SHIP THESE LUNATICS TO THE MEETING! :!:
WE WANT PROOF THAT THEY ARE ORCHESTRATING ANOTHER ELECTION 2000!
(Just because they aren't wearing Brookes Bros...doesn't mean that SOMEBODY isn't orchestrating this BULLSH#T! It has ROOTS that go ALL THE WAY to LIMBAUGH-HANNITY-BECK-ROVE! The Rovian SH#T PROPAGANDA MACHINE IS ALIVE AND WELL!)

Media Matters: A long, hot summer of hate
It was an ugly week, and a telling one.
"Global warming is no different than health care, is no different than cap and trade," Rush Limbaugh explained on Monday. "It is simply another branch of liberalism, statism, that is designed to expand government control over individuals and their liberty and their freedom and their income."
"And if this plays out right ... you can do some great damage, culturally, to liberalism," he concluded.
The next five days showed how seriously the right wing is taking those words and how far it is willing to go to confuse and manipulate the public, and to capitalize on the ensuing fear and rage. The goals: the complete delegitimization of Obama and the wholesale destruction of the progressive movement he leads.
Glenn Beck is anti-violence, pro-poison
On Monday, Glenn Beck made clear that he does not support violence in the name of political causes. Sure, he's advocating civil disobedience if need be. Maybe 70 million people voted for Barack Obama less than a year ago, but who cares? "It is time to go to Washington!" he preached on Wednesday. "It is time to stand or sit in the middle of the street if you have to!" But remember: no violence.
Then on Thursday, he poisoned the speaker of the House. Not literally, of course -- just in effigy. On live television. What's the problem? Can't you liberals take a joke?
It was a perfect example of the game conservatives in the media are playing: pouring gasoline on the fire, and then, once they are criticized, saying that they were only kidding. But what does Beck expect his viewers to take away from his broadcasts? After a week of increasingly violent protests at town halls around the country, including one such event at which protesters reportedly mentioned Beck by name when explaining what inspired them, he cannot seriously contend that his rhetoric isn't having an impact, isn't stirring up the rage and confusion that is defining opposition to Democratic reforms. How many times can Beck portray Obama as a traitor who is destroying our national sovereignty, or compare the president's health care proposals to those of the Nazis, before the anger spills over? He calls for calm, and then describes the Obama-led "brownshirts" who are silencing dissent and the "enemies list" the White House is compiling of those who dare to voice their opinions. Meanwhile, it is the Democrats, we are told, who are the irresponsible ones. It is Democrats who are using the language of "pure hate," as Frank Luntz told Beck, to describe the brave patriots who are shouting down members of Congress in defense of liberty. Why are they doing it? Beck's answer? They want to create "more problems" so "they can use the iron fist and crush people." In the meantime, Beck urged his supporters to continue pressuring their members of Congress, even if they have to "hold a meeting ... in front of their house."
There was a hint of accountability this week after several of Beck's advertisers canceled their contracts with his show in the wake of his accusation that Obama hates white people. But the provocation continued. "When will someone stand up and say, "Traitor'?" Beck ranted on August 5. "When will someone stand up and say, 'Thieves'? ... The American way of life is being systematically dismantled and destroyed! The republic is in danger!"
Beck is right. If he gets his way, it is in danger. Reason will have been replaced by rage.
With Obama in office, Lou Dobbs claims to be an independent no more
Lou Dobbs took aim at everyone this week -- and CNN still has his back.
In spite of fresh criticism from sources as diverse as the NAACP and Don Imus, CNN alone among the major cable channels decided that it would refuse to run the ad Media Matters put out calling for the network to address Dobbs' promotion of the "birther" conspiracy theory. Predictably, Dobbs tried to make the entire issue about Media Matters itself, saying the ad "really reveals a lot about" who we are. He continued the theme throughout the week, portraying Media Matters as one of the White House's "attack dogs" and asking Obama to call us off, something Ann Coulter agreed with when she was a guest on his radio show.
It was actually a banner week for Lou. In fact, he officially abandoned his stance as "Mr. Independent," using his radio show to inform Obama (a regular listener, to be sure) that he was "moving from being an independent, sir, to being absolutely opposed to ... any policy you can conceive of!" Dobbs celebrated his newfound opposition by spreading misinformation on health care reform (it's socialism, by the way, because Obama's a socialist), hosting a Michelle Malkin lovefest, defending Limbaugh, raising the specter of incipient fascism, and repeatedly attacking Keith Olbermann, whom he described as a "cretin" and a "psycho" who was "psychologically scarred" from beatings by "girls" that he supposedly suffered as a child. No wonder, then, that Olbermann works at MSNBC, the network Dobbs called a "coven of thugs."
And not to be left behind by his fellow right-wing media celebrities, Dobbs offered support to a caller who threatened to "brawl" with health care reform advocates at a town hall, encouraging others like him to make their "voice heard."
But whatever you do, don't say "birther" on his show.
Rush Limbaugh hates Nazis, which is why he hates Nancy Pelosi
It's hard to imagine, but in certain ways, Rush was actually the most reasonable of the conservative heavy hitters this week ... except for his repeated comparisons of the Democratic leadership to the Nazi high command. Whoops -- never mind.
With the precision the right-wing echo chamber provides on a daily basis, Rush reiterated his heartfelt belief that if Democrats have their way, senior citizens -- the very same group that benefits exclusively from that evil government-run program known as Medicare -- will spend their last days on a "Statist Farm," where they will be unable to see a doctor and suffer at the hands of heartless bureaucrats whose job it will be to "make sure certain people die." On the other hand, if you were a loyal Obama supporter, you know, like an HIV patient, you might get special treatment. Limbaugh also mocked the voice of Kathleen Sebelius (he sure hates it when women talk) and described her work promoting reform as a "campaign of pure fraud and deceit." And he had a warning for some of the crooks in D.C.: "You Blue Dogs are about to see your last days if you vote for this bill." At least he's giving them one more chance to get it right.
Predictably, Limbaugh decried the idea that anti-reform town hall protests were anything other than the work of self-informed citizens. "It's not ginned up, it's genuine. It's real," he explained. Sure, there isn't a single shard of evidence that any well-funded conservative organization has spent a single second spreading lies and advocating aggressive tactics in the hope of furthering the disruptions.
"There is no manufactured anger," Limbaugh said the next day. "The anger is legitimate and real and it is boiling over."
There's that idea again: The anger is boiling over.
In order to truly manipulate people, you need to convince them that they are fighting pure evil. And on Thursday, Rush finally got down to business.
"[T]he Obama health care logo is damn close to a Nazi swastika logo," he said on air. He went on to explain "the similarities between the Democrat Party of today and the Nazi Party in Germany." Key among them: "Adolf Hitler, like Barack Obama, also ruled by dictate." On Friday, he did it again, but blamed Nancy Pelosi for "starting it" because she had pointed out that one conservative protester had made a sign featuring a swastika. There was plenty of photographic evidence to back her up, but Limbaugh still called her "deranged."
Sounding the same call as Beck and Dobbs, Limbaugh explained that Obama's "brownshirts" were coming, sure to make use of the "snitch website" he had set up. He warned of "union thugs" who had "roughed up" a protester -- "Mussolini-type stuff." He accused a St. Louis SEIU local of violence, and then gave out the office's address.
He even latched onto a recent fad in conservative circles: comparing Obama to the Joker, the sociopathic anarchist from the most recent Batman movie. "His goal was to undermine the whole system," Limbaugh said of the character, while actually explaining himself.
He wasn't kidding. The conservative playbook has been laid bare, and it is ugly. In the face of this summer of hate, progressives must persevere. And in so doing, they must be driven not by anger at the thought of who they are fighting against, but by devotion to who they are fighting for: everyone the conservative movement is so content to leave behind.

]DID WE COME TO DISRUPT YOUR TEA PARTIES? :?: |
I think this is what makes me angriest. We had PLENTY to be incensed about since 2000, beginning with nothing less than the total hijacking of our democratic system by stopping recounts and a Bush-stocked SCOTUS that forgot what its job was supposed to be. And let's not forget little things like a war we were lied into, etc. etc. We were mad, and we engaged in some protests, but we did not try to silence the other side and take away their right to be heard. Nor did we manufacture lies and spread them around like manure. We behaved more or less honorably and worked through legitimate channels for change. Finally, we succeeded by getting Obama elected and seating a majority in Congress. But these whiny babies can't tolerate that! No. They have to try to shut us down, and they will stoop to anything to do it. The lies that have been told in the media and through 527 ads on TV are unbelievable. Well, sad to say, they're not unbelievable to conservatives and the uneducated. They're eating it up like slop.
I'd just like to see what would happen if you gave all these people health care, and then you tried to take it away. Look at how they scream when you try to cut back on Medicare. Oh my god! :o Once they see what Medicare gives them, they don't want to give it up. And that's the same sort of system! But they refuse to see that. And they would NEVER allow you to take it away. The same will be true of health care if this actually goes into effect.
They're such idiots . . .
JamesAquila - August 10, 2009 02:40 PM (GMT)
Good points EM.
I would have no problem with these people if they came to voice legitimate concerns and ask questions. But there goal is to shut down discussion because they can't win on the facts.
The one thing that disturbs me the most is many of these people saying, "I want my country back". Exactly what does that mean?

Isn't is, though? Representative Chet Edwards, here, has decided to hold a "telephone town hall" meeting. He claims he can get out more information that way, but I'm sure it's to avoid these crazies at the meetings.
And I agree, EM. We did have valid reasons to be angry back in 2000 and really, I think we still do, considering that the recount was shut down which basically handed the election to Bush. But still, any protesting we did was within reason and not for the purpose of shutting down the democratic process.
But these rioters at the meetings? They don't care about democracy. All they care about is getting their way. How can you even meet somebody like that halfway?

I commend the Democrats for trying, but it is 'obvious' the Glenn Beck's 9/12er's and assorted Tea Partiers are determined to shut them down... <_<
You Know? It is a 'd@mned' shame that the TRUTH about the healthcare bill can't even be explained to 80% of the People, because a faction of 20% of the opposition feel they have to show up to shut it down...
The FIRST Amendment grants the Right Of Free Speech and Assembly...To bad Radcons like Beck and others have to 'cherry pick' the issue...and pass rumors... :wtf:
In the end Beck...you should APOLOGIZE to over 40 MILLION people that WON'T RECEIVE healthcare thanks to YOU & YOUR MOB!
earthmother - August 11, 2009 03:36 PM (GMT)
Democrats at these meetings should ask the protesters the following questions:
1) Are you now on Medicare? (many will be)
2) Is it working for you? (most seniors are very happy with their Medicare benefits)
3) Do you consider the program to be socialist? (believe it or not, many don't know or won't acknowledge that it's a gov't-run program that's paid for with tax dollars)
4) Do you want your Medicare benefits taken away? (when they answer "no," which almost all will, then you inform them that gov't-run health care will be a very similar program)
Then you move on to the next questions:
5) Do you currently collect Social Security, or are you grateful you'll have it when you retire? (most will answer yes)
6) Do you want your Social Security benefits taken away? (most will answer no)
7) Is Social Security socialism?
Then the Dems. also need to get out the following FACT:
--Gov't-run Medicare is much more efficient than private health-care. Where something like 2% of Medicare dollars goes to administration, more than 50% of private health-care dollars goes to administration.
LET THE PEOPLE SEE THE FACTS, AND THEY'LL SPEAK FOR THEMSELVES!
Of course, there will still be many who simply won't listen, but we have to try.

I remember Dubya never tolerated any opposition when he had public events, etc. These people don't even have a legitimate reason for protesting and aren't protesting in a peaceful manner. They should be thrown out or arrested! :spikey: I think it's time for us Dems to grow a spine and stop putting up with their abuse. The longer we put up with it, the more it is going to happen. :bad:

I sure wouldn't want to attend a meeting with some angry idiot carrying a gun. Why is it guns always seem to be in the wrong hands and the wrong places??? Check this out, although it's a bit of the original topic, it's about people carrying guns in public places. I wouldn't step foot in any park if I knew people were walking around with guns. I don't care if they have a legal permit or not. :bad:
http://www.theleafchronicle.com/apps/pbcs....EWS01/908110338Montgomery County parks to allow gunsConservation Board takes no action, state law starts Sept. 1 for permit holders
By MARK HICKS • The Leaf-Chronicle • August 11, 2009
After Sept. 1, it will be legal for people with valid handgun-carry permits to enter Montgomery County parks bearing arms.
Inaction Monday evening by the county's Conservation Board, which oversees county parks, effectively killed a resolution that would have continued a ban of guns in the county's four parks.
Thus, when the state Legislature's bill that allows guns in state parks becomes law on Sept. 1, it will supersede the county's ban on weapons in parks that was formally adopted in 2007.
County Attorney Austin Peay said during the meeting that the new law pertains only to handguns carried by permit-holders, and the other rules and regulations at county parks will remain unchanged.
Therefore, explosive substances, fireworks, air or gas guns, bows, crossbows, switchblade or hunting knives, daggers, metal knuckles, slingshots, boomerangs or "other dangerous weapon" continue to be on the banned list.
The Conservation Board voted in June to retain the current rules that prohibits guns in county parks in the wake of the May 26 passage of the Legislature's bill that would allow guns in all state and local parks, but local governments were allowed an option to ban guns from their parks.
The Conservation Board's recommendation to continue the gun ban was forwarded to the full County Commission.
County Mayor Carolyn Bowers removed the resolution from the Commission's nonvoting Aug. 3 agenda in order to answer some legal questions, such as jurisdiction when a county park sits within the city limits.
Peay told board members after he reviewed the resolution, he advised Bowers to delay it for further study.
"We didn't want to rush it through without resolving those issues," he said, adding that there was also confusion about when such a vote would be necessary.
Board Chairman John Bartee said members were under the impression that such a vote should come before the new law went into effect Sept. 1.
Peay later said the issue of which rules would apply when a county park is in the city, depends on ownership of the park, according to state law.
(2 of 2)
Bartee said the board was concerned about allowing guns in parks because of safety.
"We feared for Little League ball games," he said. "Most of our parks have Little League fields. We've had tempers flare and fisticuffs between the parents at the games."
District 21 Commissioner Jerry Allbert, a Conservation Board member, made a motion to delay the resolution until the September meeting, which would have given the public an opportunity to comment on the proposal during the County Commission's nonvoting meeting.
The motion failed for lack of a second from other board members.
Bartee called for any other motions, but members were silent and the meeting was adjourned with no action taken.
About a dozen people who opposed the resolution attended the meeting and voiced various opinions.
Their primary objection was that such a ban would prohibit properly permitted people screened via a criminal background check and trained in handgun safety from carrying their guns into parks.
One man mentioned that people with handgun permits aren't likely to "draw their guns and start shooting" at a Little League game.
Last Thursday, the Clarksville City Council voted to continue its ban of guns in city parks.

we need to ban guns
I never met a gun that did not kill something
and have never, ever seen any story where a gun saved someone's life
never
time to ban guns
(our 2nd amendment does not say individuals anyhow)
someone is going to get killed
and these people are not real protesters anyhow but republican agitators
the cool thing would be tragically, if they attempted used the their guns, it led directly to the banning of all guns
It would be their own fault
ironic, huh?
by the way2- how come the only faux protesters are white?
guess their casting calls for phony protesters only go to white agencies.

I don't blame you, AGIML. I wouldn't want to either. And why in the hell would guns be allowed at a public park??? That is just an accident or shooting waiting to happen!
Some years ago there was debate as to whether we should be allowed to carry guns in our line of work. It was eventually left up to the discretion of each dept. in each county but we've always believed that guns created an environment of hostilty. Frankly, I feel safer without one than with one. What was it that Clay said? Guns give a false sense of security. I tend to agree with that statement - but don't tell him that, lol. (These smilies are acting up again)

In a way, Clay, I would like to see guns banned. But my fear is that people will always find a way to get a gun - whether they're legal or not. Guns always find their way in the wrong hands, i.e. the guy shooting at the gym or like the Luby's massacre locally years ago. Those kind of people that go off half-cocked are the ones to worry about.
It's like asking other countries to disarm and get rid of nuclear weapons when we have some ourselves. How can they feel safe if we still have them?

http://www.esquire.com/the-side/richardson...part-one-080409When Did Americans Turn into a Bunch of Raving Lunatics?A look back at how we got to this apex of the "birther" movement and — more frightening still — a road trip into the heart of Obama hater country. Part one in a two-part series.
By John H. Richardson

This is the most frightening thing I have heard in a very long time: According to a poll conducted by the Daily Kos, which I fervently hope is wrong, 28 percent of Republicans believe that President Obama is not an American citizen. Another 30 percent are undecided. A wider survey to be released tomorrow takes that 58 percent of potential "birthers" nationwide up to nearly 70 in Virginia alone. And this is not in dispute: Ten Republican congressmen have now signed on to a bill demanding that Obama prove his citizenship.
If a majority of our conservative population and that much of its elected leadership think that even some of this "birther" stuff is remotely possible, some very dark times may be heading to this country. Early this spring, I spent two very long days traveling around Kentucky with Orly Taitz, one of the leading "birthers" in a nation full of them. So I can tell you with confidence — and show you later in this week's column and next — that this is much, much crazier than most people imagine — and alarmingly in sync with the "tea parties" and wild accusations of socialism that seem to define the current "conservative" opposition.
Of course, if you've been following this on CNN and Fox, where folks like Lou Dobbs and Sean Hannity have been offering "birther" commentaries at a fever pitch, you might think the whole thing boils down to a simple demand — that Obama produce his birth certificate. Even Andrew Sullivan of the liberal Atlantic magazine asked for that much on his usually excellent blog:
So many readers are furious that I have dared to ask the president to show the original copy of his birth certificate. The reason for demanding it is the same reason for demanding basic medical records proving Sarah Palin is the biological mother of Trig. Because it would make it go away and it's easily done.
Others argue that the whole thing is getting overblown because it's August — the "silly season" for news — and because the more reasonable and mainstream Republicans don't want to take a stand that will further alienate part of their base. This is probably true. But it also obscures a troubling truth: By focusing on the "news hook" about our president's birth certificate, we are ignoring the broader mixture of paranoid apocalyptic fantasies that feed this troubling — and growing, perhaps into the tens of millions — group of people. People who told me they're not just looking for the president's birth certificate. They're looking for his death certificate.
Bear with me before I introduce you to them, because the litany of events that got us to this point in American history should give anyone with a conscience cause for concern — or at least a moment's pause.

Almost immediately following the election, a rash of extreme but nonetheless important statements about Obama and his agenda started appearing in the media. Here's a small but representative sample, lest we allow the latest Dobbsian rhetoric (or Chuck Norris) to obfuscate the chorus:
1. Senator Tom Coburn of Oklahoma said the bailout was the start of America's downfall. "To abandon a market-oriented society and transfer it to a Soviet-style, government-centered, bureaucratic-run and mandated program, that is the thing that will put the stake in the heart of freedom in this country."
2. Congressman Pete Sessions of Texas said that Obama intended "to inflict damage and hardship on the free enterprise system, if not kill it."
3. Congressman Ron Paul of Texas said that "socialism" was too mild a word for what Obama was doing because taking over corporations "adds a fascistic aspect to socialism."
4. Representative Michele Bachmann of Minnesota said she wanted her constituents "armed and dangerous" because Obama was planning "re-education camps for young people." She also said that "Thomas Jefferson told us having a revolution every now and then is a good thing."
5. Ambassador Alan Keyes called Obama a communist who is trying to establish "an American KGB."
6. Rush Limbaugh Show guest host Mark Davis told a joke about a soldier who has only two bullets in his gun when he meets Osama Bin Laden, Harry Reid, and Nancy Pelosi — and uses both bullets on Pelosi before strangling the other two.
7. Senator Richard Shelby of Alabama put his considerable weight behind the "birther" movement: "His father was Kenyan and they said he was born in Hawaii, but I haven't seen any birth certificate."
8. Legislators in thirty states filed Tenth Amendment "sovereignty" laws as a symbolic gesture of defiance to Washington.
9. Tens of thousands of YouTubers watched a video called "Revolution Now," in which a masked man claiming to be a soldier and an "anonymous American patriot" warned of growing resistance within the military. "There's a revolution brewing," he said. "We have allowed the tyrants to take over this country."
10. Seven percent of the country thought, at a time when the Republicans were almost unanimously resistant to everything the Democrats proposed, that the GOP was being too cooperative. That's roughly 21 million seriously alienated people.
But nobody vibrated with the new sense of alarm more vividly than Fox's new talk-show host, Glenn Beck. "The year is 2014. All the banks have been nationalized," he began one show. "Unemployment is about between 12 percent and 20 percent. Dow is trading at 2,800. The real-estate market has collapsed. Government and unions control most of business, and America's credit rating has been downgraded."
In another, he sounded exactly like a militia member from the backwoods of Montana: "They'll take away guns, they'll take way our sovereignty, they'll take away our currency, our money. They're already starting to put all the global framework in with this bullcrap called global warming. This is an effort to globalize, to tie together everybody on the planet!"
Beck called for resistance and talked about storming Washington, selling T-shirts blazed with the pitchfork of an angry mob — and all of this led to startling success. Debuting last January in a weak 5 P.M. time slot, Beck shot to the No. 3 cable-news slot overnight, right behind Bill O'Reilly and Sean Hannity with 2.5 million viewers.

you don't want to ban guns?
Then regulate bullets
How about 5 bullets for one gun at any time.
and if you need more, you gotta get a prescription for another 5.
from a gun doctor.
noone needs more than 5 bullets.
those "I need a gun to protect my family", well if a perp. is in your home,
you got ONE shot to stop that persaon
After the perp knows there is a gun, the perp will either flee, die from the shot,
or fire back
If you don't get him with the first shot, they will get you anyhow
(though I am not quite sure who they are in the first place, they don't really exist )
so 5 bullets for each gun. that's it.
And like prescriptions, you gotta qualify for more.
no one needs more than that

ain't looking to start a squabble here, just the facts and only the facts
that shows a small % can get someone elected right here in America
In 1992, 43% of the people elected the person who became president
57% did not vote for the person called the winner.
of the voters
44.9 million voted for the winner
59 million did not
(let alone the ones that did not vote at all)

 Yeah, if a person can buy vicodin or xanax off the street without a prescription, it'll be a hard feat limiting someone to 5 bullets!! There'll be people selling bullets on every street corner!
