Title: Is the AGSC site down?
Description: Or am I the only one having trouble?

TNblue - July 23, 2009 01:40 AM (GMT)
Hey Pals, my link to this site has been giving me a message that says the site has been disabled. This showed up for the first time last night. TFG said she saw that too and had to access it another way.

I got here by Googling "Al Gore Support Center" (which also gives this message when you click on it) and then clicking "cached". Tried with Firefox and IE. Same thing happened.

I emailed Earthmother last night. I just read an email reply from her and she didn't see anything wrong with the site from where she is.

I see new posts made today.

:wtf: is going on?

Inny-body? Someone? Can you help me out here? Oh, not sure if you can PM or EM me if something is haywire. Best to post a response here and I'll have to come back the convoluted way.

Thanks!

TNblue

ps - OOPS! I meant to put this in the Off Topic category. My bad.

Haaaalp! :dripple: :!:

Ok, ok......I love you ALL with all your warts. Come back, please.

TN, just now getting online. We're away at a softball state tournament. My daughter got picked up by another team so we've been out of pocket the past few days.

Anyway, it is still showing "this site has been disabled" for me too. I remember that this has happened on two other occasions. I don't know why, but it seemed after a few days, things were back to normal. I hope it gets cleared up this time as well. Until then, I guess we'll have to continue doing what we're doing.

TNblue - July 23, 2009 04:20 AM (GMT)
Stay in touch, TFG. You seem to be the only person who can "see" me. I feel invisible. :?:

REV PAPA BEAR - July 23, 2009 04:52 AM (GMT)
I can see you TN! ;)

It's just Flying Monkeys HACKING the site again! :coolwink:

THEY have been trying to shut down my 'firewall' as well! :coolwink:

Since THEY do NOT LIKE US then THEY try to SHUT US UP!

I dropped a 'trace'...let's see what MY DRAGNET PULLS BACK!

I have the forum bookmarked and it seems to be fine. However, if you go from the forum to the GSC main page then I do indeed get a message that the website has been disabled. Could it be that the website needs to be 'renewed' by Chris Jackson? :?:

JamesAquila - July 23, 2009 02:44 PM (GMT)
That is very possible. The good thing is the forum is on a seperate server than the site.

I had the same problem in the library the past few days, so had to access it another way, too. But it worked.

I thought it was the computer, but obviously not.

REV PAPA BEAR - July 23, 2009 09:30 PM (GMT)
AGIML...If EM gets the Site back UP...would you object to UPDATING IT? IT NEEDS IT IN PLACES!...I already OFFERED to HELP!! ;)

TNblue - July 24, 2009 03:08 AM (GMT)
Thanks to all of you for your replies.

The situation is the same tonight. I've had the link bookmarked for years. Dunno why some can and some can't. Hopefully it will get resolved before I beat my brains out on the keyboard.

Yeah, it's frustrating, isn't is. I have the regular email address bookmarked as well, so when it came up with "this site has been disabled," I was like :?: . I was hoping I could still get to it by either doing a search or going to the invisionfree website, like I did in the past. But it is a pain. Hopefully, it will get resolved, whatever the problem is.

REV PAPA BEAR - July 24, 2009 03:49 AM (GMT)
Tex we can get a NEW Homstead SITE for FREE! ;)

(OR FROM WEEBLY OR WEBSTARTS...)

But it's UP to EM! And SHE has a FULL PLATE! That's why I ASKED her if I could work on the FRONT SITE with help from AGIML who does a LOT of WORK updating our NEWS ALERTS!!!
:good: :good:

I myself SAVED the z8invision and s8invision addresses as favorites so I could come straight to the FORUM!

Even our TOP BANNER is GONE!! :!:

TNblue - July 25, 2009 01:25 AM (GMT)
Same deal today. :(

Texan for Gore - July 25, 2009 02:49 AM (GMT)
Yeah, I've got this address saved now - so that's how I've been getting here.

Since Chris is the one who set this board up, wouldn't he have to approve moving it? Of course, I guess it's been a long time since he's been here and EM has been managing the board. Maybe things will straighten up. At least we can still access the board, but it's something to think about in case this board ever went down permanently. Would we be interested in starting a new board and how would we get in touch with each other?

TNblue - July 25, 2009 04:26 PM (GMT)
Ditto today, Saturday. <_<

I hope things recover in case some of our regulars can't figure out how to access another way. --- Haven't noticed Patsy on since this happened.

ReElectAlGore2016 - July 25, 2009 05:53 PM (GMT)
is anyone sure the site isn't being disbanded officially?

its not so easy for a site to be just moved to another person either
lotta legal issues involved

and an old owner wouldn't necessarily want to take a risk

there are other places we can all converse argue on
someone should start a chain or something while people are still here so that
at least one person can reach another person

texan knows another place where she would be able to pm and to reach me for instance

I was at public library, and it is impossible to get here from a non-normal computer

I think this problem is going to get worse here

REV PAPA BEAR - July 25, 2009 06:04 PM (GMT)
Surely, we aren't backing down because what we are saying is 'controversial'...If worst comes to worst we can go to DU or Huffington and claim a piece there... ;)

But if we DO 'back down' then those we are fighting against WILL take it as a MAJOR VICTORY!

Is THIS what we want? :?:

THEY are NOT even IN POWER, but can still 'scuttle' this site? :?:

THAT would set a BAD PRECEDENT!

trueconservative - July 25, 2009 06:10 PM (GMT)
papa is once again correct. The Flying Monkeys would be dancing with 'glee' at this site being totally destroyed.

The Fathers hate this site as well. It has been around for a long time, and is a considerable 'thorn' in their paw.

If this site was to disband, they would look upon it as a coup-de-tat.

Wayne in WA State - July 25, 2009 07:12 PM (GMT)
I'm pretty sure this site has not been disbanded. The problem is the website is owned by Chris Jackson in TN. He has to periodically renew it, and he's not so good about responding to messages from Earthmother. If TNBlue or oleblueraider can contact him I would encourage that. If he's not interested in this site anymore and would just transfer or sell ownership to us that would probably be best. We'll get it back again, I'm pretty sure.

TNblue - July 25, 2009 08:22 PM (GMT)
Wayne, does it cost money to renew a web site? Perhaps that has something to do with it. I know very little about how these things work.

I'm not a constituent of Chris', therefore no sway, but I suppose I could try. What exactly is it that I need to ask him to do?

First, Earthmother would need to weigh in on what to say and what she's willing to assume. I don't want to commit her to something without her permission.

I agree with TN, Wayne...It's up to Karen on this...but if we have to move 'operations' then it can be done... :Y:

The PROBLEM is whenever Democrats REGAIN POWER then they ACT like they do NOT KNOW what to do with it!

I want 'leaders'...NOT SPINLESS-GUTLESS WONDERS! THAT is WHY I registered INDEPENDENT for the LAST ELECTION!

I think there is a nominal fee to renew the website. From what I recall it's something like $40, we could cover that. I wouldn't want to lose all our threads going back for years. There should be a way to renew the site and hopefully put into the actual hands of EM. :Y:

PS This isn't the only site Chris needs to renew
http://www.lawrencedemocrats.org/chrisjackson.html

trueconservative - July 26, 2009 12:10 AM (GMT)
papa just told me that EM says Chris hadn't contacted her for awhile. Seems like he forgot who has put him where he is today.

The front site hadn't been updated since 2006 anyway. I say we open a new Front Site on Weebly or Web Starts and update it fully. even Homestead will put up a free page for a while. As long as we have the forum, we can connect it to as MANY front sites as we wish. We can ALL do a front site and connect it to the forum!

Seems like now that 'cap & trade' got passed that Mr. Gore doesn't need US anymore!

He's got Current and all the OTHER sites, so why would he care about us? :?:

We DO serve a purpose! We were the MAIN DEFENDERS of Al Gore, Barack Obama, and many other Democrats! I guess THAT doesn't matter any more!

My guess is they want us to SHUT UP! Well here is MY WARNING to ALL OF THEM!

As long as you continue to let Limbaugh-Hannity-Beck and the REST of the Radcons beat you down daily under the auspices of FREE SPEECH(which they weaponize), come 2012 we are going to FACE JEB BU$H/SARAH PALIN on the GOP ticket! If NOBODY is fighting back then we will face a BIGGER NIGHTMARE than McCain could EVER offer!

Sure we have DU, Huffington, and Media Matters, but AGSC and Algore.org were the FIRST sites dedicated to fighting BU$H and the radcons. It would be a 'symbolic' VICTORY to THEM if we were disbanded and destroyed!

THAT IS EXACTLY WHAT WE DO NOT WANT TO GIVE THEM!

Clay, the old PROBOARD site still gets 10 to 14 visitors an hour and it is technically defunct!

The FRONT SITE needs CHANGED anyway!

papa said YOU used to have a Front site, Clay! Up to making another? ;)

Um, I just came home from dinner. Now my new bookmark isn't working. I barely got back here.

I agree, Wayne. I don't think the site had been disbanned or anything. But I don't know what the problem is. As far as what this site costs, I was under the impression this was a free site based on info. provided at the invisionfree.com website that hosts this board. I could be wrong though, maybe there is an initial fee or renewable fee, but I remember reading something about sites being free as long as you don't mind the ads at the top of the page. It said something about it costing $5.00 + a month if you want an ad-free website. But I read this info. the last time this glitch happened, so who knows. :?:

I do think it'd be a good idea if maybe everyone who is interested in continuing with this board, to give their email address to EM or something, just in case this site did go down, then she'd have a way to contact everyone with a backup plan. Just a thought. :Y:

And Papabear and true, don't panic. I don't think Al Gore or other dems have abandoned us or anything. If anything, maybe it just boils down to Chris not renewing it. So we need to consider other alternatives if that's the case.

I don't know what the problem is, Clay. I don't think the website is being disbanned, but it does make me wonder if Chris has decided not to renew the site, if you even have to renew it. I don't understand how all that stuff works.

Anyway, I agree with Wayne that it'd be great if someone could get a hold of Chris, that is, if he will respond back, and ask him to sell or transfer ownership of this site. If he doesn't respond back, then it may be time to consider other alternatives.

And yes, if we all lose track, at least I'll know how to contact you thru CGCS. But how about everybody else? I suggested above that everyone give EM their email or some kind of contact info. so if the site does go down, that we can reconnect by maybe setting up another board.

Btw, if you are on a non-normal computer, try typing in the address I posted above. I know it's a pain in the a$$ to have to type it in manually, but until we can figure something else out, that's all I know to suggest. :?:

that's not me.Papabear is mistaking me for soneone else.
I am computer illiterate basically

I post regular on another site that is for all sides/all candidates
commongroundcommonsense under a different name, as someone already had my nickname when I signed up there. Maybe that person knew computers but it wasn't me

before anyone does anything though, I think legally one cannot just
transfer something without Chris' permission.

Thsi board if I remember correct was a sort of official board, and either a
not for profit, or done under certain political guidelines wasn't it?

Remember-the chat room forum was just one part of the entire website.

I do think that people outside the regulars here will not easily see anything
we write
And I think as the days go on, it is like we are disappearing so someone needs
to get in touch with Chris soon or it might be too late

REV PAPA BEAR - July 26, 2009 03:27 PM (GMT)
Sorry Clay, but I was hoping anyway...I AM computer literate and have been doing this for years...I will just start blogging myself and refer to posts here like the old proboards site...I am for taking a rest myself...I have gotten invites from DU but I don't want to go alone...

I am also for taking a break anyway...I didn't keep up at Colbert Nation or Current...but I would go back to Current if everything fell flat here...Algore.org suffers similar problems... :o

This board has been a 'homeplate' for me for years...NOT too BIG...and NOT too SMALL! ;)

If this dumps..I will just work on my websites and go to DU I guess... :?:

trueconservative - July 26, 2009 03:34 PM (GMT)
radcons will be celebrating this! This forum was their BIGGEST PAIN!

If this goes down then they will be opening champagne bottles for sure!

Albeit the front site was 'old', it still drew guests to the forum. We may have to take the 'exodus' to another forum site. I hate the bigger sites, but not to worry because our loyal fans will follow.

We could revive algore.org, but what sense is there in that? the site is cumbersome and hard to navigate.

I have a Current account as well. I told papa we should all migrate over there. The KIDS there enjoy our company!

Besides, I THINK Mr. Gore WANTS US TO! ;)

TNblue - July 26, 2009 04:33 PM (GMT)
TFG, Thanks for the info. I'll try it.

Maybe we should go to Chris' web site and flood it with pleas for help....and perhaps offer a small campaign contribution. :coolwink:

http://commissionerjackson.blogspot.com/

Here's an idea. If someone is willing to construct a (cogent) letter, just a paragraph or 2, then we could all copy it from here ver batim and each one of us send it to Chris in a separate email. That might get his attention since there seems to be so little activity on his web site.

I can't work on this today as I'm managing a very ill pet.

ALGOREismylife - July 26, 2009 04:44 PM (GMT)
I'm a bit disgusted that many are still bitching about this when I have sent out several PM on an easy way that not many know about to access this site. Either I just got ignored or no one received my PM. :?:

I got your email, and it works when in public places
(so far at homebase the bookmark directly works)
, thanks
however, that is not a longtme answer

because it is possible this board will slowly disappear after cache's are gone
(I think they last one to six months)

the other problem is people who are not here the last few weeks won't know the back roads into it so it will only be us six, any other person won't know it
(if one can't access, then a pm won't be accessible I don't think)

Has anyone emailed/pm'd erin?
She is one of the original draft gore posters

TNblue - July 26, 2009 05:01 PM (GMT)
Hmm, I don't think I'm able to receive any PMs. EM told me in an email a few days ago that she tried to send me one. I never got it.

ReElectAlGore2016 - July 26, 2009 05:05 PM (GMT)
xxx

ALGOREismylife - July 26, 2009 05:10 PM (GMT)
So I guess the PM thingy works sometimes and sometimes it doesn't. I do know if you inbox is too full, you won't be able to receive any new messages until you delete some older messages. But it's frustrating not knowing if your PM are being received or not.

Texan for Gore - July 26, 2009 06:02 PM (GMT)
AGIML, I don't know if you sent me a pm or not, but I haven't rec'd one. But Clay was able to pm me.

All of this is starting to make me think that we should start considering a new website, simply because this is Chris' website and he is no longer here, therefore there is no guarantee that this website will remain. And we want to think about this while we're still able to make contact. I haven't seen any posts from EM since all this happened. Is she able to get through, I wonder? And then there's Patsy and Oleblue. Haven't seen either one of then lately, of course, I've been away lately.

As far as sending pm's, a lot of people have a message sent to their email address if they receive a pm. However, if they're not able to get to the board, then they wouldn't be able to read it anyway. It would only be the ones who have it set up to be able to send email to them.

So what do we do now? I believe I have rec'd email from EM's direct email address, so I will try to contact her and see what she thinks.

As for everybody else, any other thoughts or ideas?

Wayne in WA State - July 27, 2009 04:33 AM (GMT)
Earthmother has written to me and said she was out of town and only had spotty internet access. Hopefully on Monday she'll be able to find out more. If we can get Chris Jackson to cooperate this shouldn't be too hard. I think it would only take a few minutes of his time to get the site back up. From there, if he would transfer control, we have a couple volunteers who could update the main page. The next week may let us know what's going to happen.. :ph43r:
